Viewing Navigation widget multiple lines of directories
Navigation widget multiple lines of directories

I have a very large iWeb site to convert to EverWeb containing 20+ directories and 50+ pages within. Obviously I need to get a handle on site navigation before I start large scale conversion. While playing around with the Navigation widget I found that any selection of top line directories would "merge" the contents of the drop down with any directory name immediately below. The widget settings provide for the change in background and mouse over colors however this setting does not result in hiding content in the second (and future) lines of directories in the widget. I have searched the Forums here and studied the EverWeb Codebox site and found no similar content. Since the Navigation widget allows for multiple lines of directories and pages, it seems logical to be able to view a drop down menu and expected it to automatically hide the contents behind it rather than have it bleed thru. Other than that, I find each release of EverWeb to incorporate great new features and bug fixes. Keep up the good work! Thanx. |

Rearrange the pages so the dropdown menus are at the bottom row : http://shuttletpe.us/Temp/index.html It's not really rocket science. Edit Perhaps this is a nice way to organise a crowded menu : http://www.menucool.com/horizontal/css-menu Last edit 11 years ago |

Hi Gregory, That looks like a bug in EverWeb that we will have to look into. It isn't recommended you have multiple lines of navigation links though. You should consider having only your most important links on one line there. Last edit 11 years ago ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Thank you both for the assistance. For now I'll probably go with a mix of the two solutions suggested. If this becomes a bug fix in a future release, that will fit my needs perfectly. The menucool.com option shows me what is possible when I get smart enough to start customizing the html. Because of the large size of my website and its anticipated growth, I will be adding more directories and pages with photo albums. Call it a site map, or a crowded navigation bar, I would like a the flat organizational structure EverWeb affords me in addition to the ease of use that comes with it. |

Hi Gregory, We will work on improving it but it is a difficult issue to address. Sorry for the problems and we will get a fix for it as soon as we can. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Quote: I have a very large iWeb site to convert to EverWeb containing 20+ directories and 50+ pages within Am I correct in assuming that your site will have in excess of 1000 pages? More than 20 directories - each with 50 or more pages? If so, you would be better off dividing your site into sections - each created on a separate project file - and having its own drop down menu with up to about 12 directories. Link these sections with a simple "master" navigation menu. I wouldn't recommend having a site with much more than 120 or so pages on a single project file. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! | I realize I should have been clearer in stating my site size and organizational structure. My current iWeb site has about 23 links in the nav bar across the top, some are single pages some are links to pages with multiple page descriptions and photo page links. I may have 50 or so photo pages for a total of less than 100. I can reduce the total number of pages with a more efficient menu set up. I fully realize I have a web creep problem that I have to get under control. | |
