We currently have a website hosted by another company. We are considering taking it on by ourselves, using Everweb & hosting through Rage. The question is: When we transfer the Domain name, what happens to the website with that Domain that is currently up? Does it disappear until we publish through Rage? Does it sit there able to be seen but not interacted with until a new one replaces it? We were thinking about getting the site built in Everweb, then transferring, then publishing a new site to have little downtime. |

Nothing will change with your domain until you update the name servers. Domain name servers tell a domain what server to point too. They are two simple lines of text and you should see a field in your account with your domain registrar to enter them. So no matter what, your website will still work until your name servers are update. This article explains what you should do to get your website up and running without any downtime. Once everything is working you can transfer your domain.
