iWeb Folder Transfers to EverWeb

User: Paige A. 11 years ago
Instead of having to recreate all of the pages for my website on EverWeb, I wanted to know first if it is possible to transfer the iWeb Folders to EverWeb so that it would save me a huge amount of work. By the way...this is a great web editor.

Nope!
That would be cool though! I find I like having to rebuild my iWeb site again in EW, it makes me clean them up etc...

As Steve has pointed out, this is not possible - nor is it desirable.

iWeb creates very inefficient code and is fairly useless as for as Search Engine Optimization is concerned.

The most time consuming part of creating a website is the content - creating the text and preparing the images. Since all this can be transferred to a new site using copy and paste and drag and drop, the time taken to recreate your website will be a fraction of what it would take to build from scratch.

This will allow you to focus on creating a much better version of your website using all the new and more powerful features that exist in EverWeb.

There's an instructional video about how to rebuild an iWeb site in EverWeb which will help a lot.

I disagree with the part about about copying over code from iWeb Snippets and wouldn't advise anyone not to do this without first checking the syntax. If in doubt, ask for advice in this forum or from EW support before doing this.

Thanks for the responses. It looks like I'm going to have to recreate the whole site. No worries. I did it with one of my sites already. And it is true that it will give me a chance to upgrade the site so it looks even better. Thanks again.
