Pre-viewing Website in Safari has Missing Attributes

User: Alan M. 12 years ago
When I preview my site in Safari or even other browsers one thing is missing or not working in the preview,
which is the line through or strike through attribute in letters or numbers. I cannot demonstrate here as this text window does not allow line/strike through.

Does line/strike through work when published instead of in preview mode?

Thanks

As far as I know line-through for text and hyperlinks is not supported in EverWeb. See this topic…

Not supported? Geez, thats like basic stuff that should be there. It works in creation mode...and it is only for text not hyperlinks. But while I'm building the site the line through is there as it should be, only in preview mode it is not there. Strange... Kinda stinks because I have built 200 + pages so far and it is on everyone.

Maybe it will work when actually published properly to a file ready for FTP?

Strikethrough, strikeout or strike is a throw back to print media to deal with mistakes that would be to expensive and time consuming to fix in the type setting.

Although it existed in HTML, it was deprecated in HTML 4.01 and the <strike> tag is not supported in HTML5.

Just because a feature is available in the Apple font window, doesn't mean to say you should use it in web design. SInce it is redundant in HTML5, why would the developers want to support it?

If you really want to use this outdated feature you have the option to use the CSS line-through attribute.

I am building a small e-commerce website and it is used on most of those type sites for the MSRP price with the actual price next to it. I do the strike through for the MSRP price, which is higher.......you see?

Line strike through is added in the next version. It should have been there all along but apparently it wasn't added. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you Paul. Everweb really has decent E-Commerce potential - hope you add more features for this. I'll publish mine soon so you can see what I have done.
Keep up the great work!
