I made the move over from iWeb and spent a few days recreating the site (www.piltonvillage.co.uk) and have had a number of teething issues, mostly down to javascript in 3rd party widgets and the way that the snippet widget injects them into the html which is different and less forgiving than iWeb. I have totally redesigned and cut back the content of my homepage to overcome this (I understand that as with all new software this issue will improve over time as the coders put in measures to compensate for our inability, being lowly WYSIWYG users, compare www.piltonvillage.co.uk with www.piltonvillage.co.uk/piltonvillage/index) . I seems easy to upset the homepage page and have previously happy elements just vanish, so I have decided to try to keep with the native rss reader - this is reading our news pages which I moved to a Wordpress blog to get over Everweb not having the equivalent of iWeb's blog facility. I have noticed that the reader does not auto-update. It doesn't update within the Everweb page without being deleted and re-created, Once published it can be scrolled and the links all work, but it doesn't update as new News items are added to the source. Everweb is currently involving a fair bit of lateral thinking on my part, I got rid of almost all of my home screen problems by simply not using text as hyperlinks but instead converting them to graphics and using the images instead - suddenly all but one of my widgets worked. The tech-support guys must be tearing their hair out with all of us clamoring for a direct iWeb replacement with all of its simple functionality (which we have all grown very accustomed to over the years) and this sensitivity to snippets is a huge issue if users are not to give up on them, or worse still be advised against making the changeover because of the difficulty in getting long held and simple designs to work. Early days I know and personally I am prepared to compromise my layout and a bit of functionality to get to a long term solution (in my case one of the problems was having a site that I could hand over easily to another administrator at some point, its a community website, I can't be here forever and iWeb just didn't allow for that unless you bequeathed someone your computer etc!) I shall try to be patient - but any help with the rss feed soon would be greatly appreciated - anyone? all advice gratefully received Regards Scott |

You need to realise that you can't just copy widget content from iWeb to EverWeb without knowing what your are doing. EverWeb uses pure code injection which iWeb does not. See this page for more info… http://everwebcodebox.com/code/code-insertion.html A quick look at the source code shows that you have a body tag inserted within the body tags, a chunk of javascript that has no script type and style tags in the body where they shouldn't be. Although EverWeb is an iWeb replacement it has a lot more advanced features and these will take a little time to learn. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb!
