Viewing Image Insert
Image Insert

I just created a new site and, as a test, I insert the images on one page using drag and drop rather than an image insert widget. Today I had to replace an image on this page and, when I went to upload this using my FTP app, I noticed that EW has created 6 versions of each one. This means that I have 54 images in that folder on the server instead of 9. I realise that the average user won't actually have to cope with this if they are uploading to the EverWeb server or using the new built in FTP but this does seem like rather a lot of unnecessary files. The question is, why does EW find it necessary to create a new version of each image every time the page is updated? ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! | I'm new to EverWeb after years of iWeb use. The first few large photos I've added to EverWeb were automatically resized. Then something happened and now every large image I try to add I get the message that it is a big image and will be slow for folks to download, and do I want to add it anyway? But nothing on how to resize it. Where's that option? Thanks | |

I always prepare the images by crop/resize before importing them. This is essential when importing images for a slideshow. Although I use a couple of cheap, lightweight apps for prepping images, they don't do anything that Preview.app can't do. They're just a little faster and more convenient. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Quote: Then something happened and now every large image I try to add I get the message that it is a big image and will be slow for folks to download, and do I want to add it anyway? But nothing on how to resize it. This message is not regarding the height/width of the image. It is referencing the resolution of the image. Usually images taken from a camera are 300 DPI which is not needed on a computer screen and would be a waste of file space. EverWeb automatically reduces them to 72 DPI which is better suited for a computer screen. You can crop and resize your image width/height within EverWeb just as you did in iWeb. Resize the dimensions using the resize rectangles around the image object. You can also use Format->Mask (in your menu bar) to crop the image. Hope this clears things up. Let me know if you need clarification. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |
