Where is "Publish to"?

While the Everweb manual is nice, it can be quite generic on some subjects. Publishing via FTP, for example. I had been publishing to a folder then FTP from there to my web host. Frustrating. Then I saw several messages in the forum that seems to indicate I could publish directly to the FTP with the latest version (Which I have). I can't find that setting anywhere. Anyone have a hint? Roddy - You always seem to be around to help. I hope Rage slips a "thank you" in occasionally. Now - I swear, there is no Publishing Settings page on any of the Everweb menus. It's the latest, registered version. Where do you see it? It's not in a menu - Click on the topmost folder in the left hand panel, just below the horizontal Master Page separator line - you'll see the main centre panel of EW is titled Site Publishing Settings Martin |

I'm not sure whether to feel stupid for not stumbling across it or irritated nothing was mentioned about it in the manual or FAQs, This is going to save a lot of steps. My thanks to both of you! ------------------------------- MrCourtney - Honolulu, HI -------------------------------------- Mac Studio - dial monitors; iMac 27 5K - Dual Monitors - 10 TB hub Alienware: Area 51 - 24 gb - Dual Monitors - All SSD 25 TB network storage |

The publish via FTP function was added in the latest release version. The application is developing so fast that it must be near impossible to keep the manual and the instructional videos up to date. The method of opening the Publishing Settings page is familiar to former iWeb users but, when it was first introduced, it caused a lot of beard scratching and tearing of the hair amongst users! I think web design was conjured up by the universe to make us realise how small we are. The more you learn - the less you know. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! @ Roddy, As a new user of EverWeb standalone, I'm also puzzled by the lack of clues as to how to publish to a remote host other than Rage. Your Post #2 seems to indicate that simply going to the "Site Publishing Settings" page is all that it takes to define the remote server's parameters. Not so. As per the image below the top section labeled "Publishing" shows a "Publish To:" with what appears to be a drop down menu. However, the item listed in the drop down is "Everweb" and it is grayed out. Further, clicking the arrows to display the list of other options doesn't drop anything else down (probably because no other server has been defined). So how does one define a remote hosted server? Your post #8 indicates that we need to download the 1.4 beta, where "Edit Publishing Settings" is an option under the File menu. This I did after deleting my 1.3.1 version. I had to laugh when I selected "Edit Publishing Settings" as it took me to the aforementioned "Site Publishing Settings" page, where there still is no obvious way to define a remote server. Note that I am not a previous iWeb user so I am not at all familiar with the method of opening the "Site Publishing Settings" page that you note in post #7 is so familiar to past users of iWeb. So I am totally at a standstill as I have a web page all put together and no place to publish it. I don't even have any idea how to publish it to a local folder. Some very detailed assistance would really be appreciated. Thank you, -Tod Last edit 12 years ago |

| Have you paid up for the software ? I seem to recall that EW won't permit publishing unless you have an account, but then I may be mistaken........ | |

Well, I have paid for the standalone version because I already have a hosting service and don't need Rage to host it for me. Therefore, I never gave a thought to signing up for an account other than for this forum. -T |

Well Martin, you hit the nail on the head. I went through the process of creating a Rage account and now everything has changed. Thanks for prodding me in the right direction! -T |

If you press the Publish button in the toolbar at the bottom of the main window, a message will come up with the option to Sign In. Since you purchased the Stanadalone version you would press that button and enter the email and password you received when you purchased. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Double work never interested me :-) That's why people like you are appreciated.
