Viewing PDF an Image?

It used to be that dragging a PDF into the Assets List added it to the external files folder. Now, to my confusion, I find that PDFs are added as images. PDF were always added as images. To add them as an External File use the Hyperlink tab and set to Link to A File and select the PDF file.

A while back I created a widget to allow opening a file in a new custom sized window. I used a PDF in one of the demos. I moved the page to a new site and saw that the PDF got added to Images rather than External Files. Here's a screenshot of the Assets list of the site that was created earlier this year showing the PDF in External Files second from the top...
