Viewing Full page width, multiple sections

Full page width, multiple sections

I am trying to deal with a more modern design where the top is the header, the middle has an image background with a static image overlaid with a slideshow, then sections below where the backgrounds are colored. There may be 3-5 of these sections on a page (except for the home page which will have one).

Basically, consider the following layout:

+- - - - - - - - - - - -+
[] Header []
[] Menu Bar[]
+- - - - - - - - - - - -+
(full width image bg)
+: : : : : : :+
: Centered :
: Slide show :
+: : : : : : :+
+- - - - - - - - - - - -+
+ Centered +
+ Section +
+- - - - - - - - - - - -+
+ Centered +
+ Section +
+- - - - - - - - - - - -+
Footer
+- - - - - - - - - - - -+

Where all of the page is fixed width and centered (960px) but the top image and the sections extend the entire page.

Drat... I just noticed the BBcodes are not working! You can copy the text to a file that uses fixed-width fonts to see what I mean.

how can I do this with Everweb?

You can't do this in EverWeb at this point since it isn't capable of producing a dynamic width page which is centered.

I did manage to fake a 100% wide header for one user but it's more trouble than it's worth.

Your idea is easy enough to implement if you can create a site using code. You could also use the jQuery Mobile framework to create 100% wide items along with centered and responsive areas by giving them a 100% width plus a maximum width. Example…

This Website is a responsive design - and not very well executed!

You would need to ask the developers when/if EW will be able to use percentage widths for the inserted items.
