Migrating from I-web 08 to Everweb

User: Tim S. 10 years ago
EverWeb requires Mac OS 10.6 or later to operate.
My current website is written in I-Web 08 with computer operating system OSX 10.4.1.

Inasmuch as Everweb won't open in OSX 10.4 and I-web 08 won't open in OSX 10.8 how do I handle the migration to newer platform?

I thought iWeb 08 works on OS X 10.8? Did you find it doesn't?

Are you able to get a copy of iWeb 09?

iWeb '08 is unstable with Lion and Mountain Lion but should open OK.

All the text content can be copied from the published site and the media retrieved from the various folders - local or on the server.

Lots of users rebuilt their iWeb sites via copy and paste from the published files when they either lost the domain.sites2 file or it was corrupted in some way.

I'm running iWeb '11 (version 3.0.4) on Mavericks with no problems. I'm planning to migrate to EverWeb soon and have already seen that it's possible to have both open, copy and past content!

The OP is referring to iWeb V2 ('08) - not the later V3 ('09).

Hello Roddy: I communicated with you from IWeb last year. Now I moved my website to EverWeb 1.3 on a brand new IMac and have a couple of problems after I publish live: willowsvermont.com. Page: Structure Kits
1) I have created PayPal buttons to go with some of my items and I place them in the correct place and after I publish they have moved, covering text! Huh?
2) Text on the same Structure Kit page some of the text that goes with the captions turns purple and is underlined when published; it should be black with no underlining.

Any thoughts/suggestions. I'd love to know if you can open my Website!

Michael

You need to create a separate text block for each item description and then place the PayPal buttons between them.

The purple underlined captions have ben created as hyperlinks with no file path. Did you copy this over from the iWeb version of your site?

Hello Roddy
Thanks for you assistance. What you recommend makes perfect sense and I have followed your advice. After publishing "Entire Website' I'm still getting the old page in Safari. Does it take time for the information to change or is it a Safari cache issue?
User: Roddy 10 years ago
Either empty the cache, hit the refresh button a few times or add a ? at the end of the URL to force the browser to load from the server rather than the cache.

If the caching fix that Roddy suggested doesn't work, please post the URL that you see in your web browser so I can check to see if you are visiting an incorrect URL.

I tried all the above and nothing worked!

IT LIVES! My website appears to be functioning correctly now. I made one modification to Roddy's suggestion; I put the Add to Cart Button inside the box as I had in one other item already, instead of below the box as suggested.
So the whole problem about the buttons moving was due to the fact that I had more than one button in a text box
The purple/underlined text was a leftover from a link I had copied from elsewhere, as Roddy said. I had wondered what those blue curly arrows were in the corners of boxes!
So Roddy, You're my hero!

Do you know anything about PayPal?
I want to add a minimum $ order to my Shopping Cart and PP say they don't have that capability at this time!
Thanks again
