This new Final Candidate of EverWeb 3 brings a bunch of improvements and fixes. A new interface for Master Pages and other UI enhancements. It also fixes a problem with shapes drawing a white border and an updated Manual describing the new features;

Checking it out now. Not sure if this is a feature of the new update or the past, but we can not change the sales tax rates to anything but a whole number. Can you update that?

Super excited about the new update, I have been using it. I have had more crashes than usual, always while trying to open my site. Having to restart computer for a fix, because after it happens Mac 10.6.8 thwacks out. Curious about the ftp, how does it handle updates, will it just automatically replace old pages with updated ones, or should I re-publish whole directories?

Will look into this.

@Alvin T: are you getting crashes with this new version or with version 1.2? Have you sent in the crash reports to us?

FTP publishing will replace old pages

Hey Paul, sorry for posting this in wrong place, please move or delete. Yes, my crashes are with 1.3 or everweb 2. Nothing particularly debilitating. I think it might be related to some other problems on my machine. But, last night it changed my most recent links back to default colors
After crashing. The yellow is horrid. How do I change the default link colors for good?
User: Paul-RAGESW 10 years ago
Hi Alvin,

Make sure you are sending us the crash reports, otherwise we cannot fix the problem.

You can change the default link colors under Format->Default Styles.

Really pleased with this. The ftp upload to my host server worked without a hitch and seemed faster than was the case with iWeb. Could I suggest one small improvement (I use the word "small" as someone who has no real idea of what this would imply in terms of coding)? My host server, as a security feature, requires periodic instruction to allow ftp. I've tended to use iWeb's failure to make a secure connection as a reminder to deal with this. iWeb tests the connection before going through the process of preparing for upload whereas EverWeb seems to do things the other way round. This is genuinely a very tiny irritation and I've no doubt I'd get used to it. Oh! by the way. This update also fixed the problems I was having with the e-mail contact form. Brilliant!

You mean it does the test connection after publishing your files in EverWeb and you'd prefer to have it done before that?

Hi Paul
I think that's what I mean, yes. At the moment I'm working with a fairly small website I've brought over from iWeb with a fairly small number of pages (though a number of picture files) so the process of publishing prior to uploading doesn't take very long. Hence it's a fairly minor inconvenience if I then find it won't connect to the ftp server. However, when you introduce a blog facility - something I am really looking forward to - then I intend to bring over a much bigger site. Under those circumstances I would like an alert to show failure to connect before the process of publishing goes ahead.

I still don't think I understand how this would be beneficial in your situation.

Why would the Test Connection fail for you and what do you have to do when the test connection fails in iWeb to get it to work again?

Hi Paul
It is, as I say, a very very minor niggle, but it's like this. When I use iWeb it runs the test connection. If it fails I immediately get an alert. I say "dash it all!", or some such indication of my irritation, and log on to my service provider. I then update the security settings: iWeb then re-runs the test connection, prepares my pages for uploading then uploads them. I go off and make my tea or read a book while all this happens. I have a site I will want to transfer over to EverWeb - especially when the blog facility becomes available. It has a lot of pages and it can take a minute or so to prepare files for uploading. If the process then has to be abandoned due to a failure to connect that time is wasted. Also, having the butterfly mind I have, I am very likely to go off and do something else while my site is prepared and uploaded. It would be very irritating to come back to my computer to find that the process has stalled at the connection stage. Does that make sense?

OK, I see, I didn't realize what you meant with the security updates.

Have you tried uploading with EverWeb yet though? Does the upload actually work? It sounds like you may be using FTP over SSH which won't work with EverWeb. If not, let me know if it works.

I will see about putting this feature in for a future release.

Yes. Once the connection is made it all works tickety-boo. I am, I think, using a straightforward FTP protocol.
