Hi I am using the Rages Hosting for my own website, but need to use another hosting company for a website I do for a friend. I presume I save the website to a folder & then use an FTP program to upload it. Can anyone recommend an easy to use, good FTP program for Mac to allow me to do this? Thanks Lynn |

Have you downloaded and tried the latest Beta? It has implemented upload to other servers from within EverWeb. A lot of People use Cyberduck for FTP but I prefer Yummy since it allows me to see both the files on the Mac and those on the server in the same window. Yummy Lite is all you need and costs $1.99 from the App Store. I prefer to publish to a local folder and use an optimizer to process the files for faster performance and upload them. An optimizer has the added advantage of uploading only the changed files and will get you web pages downloading up tp twice as fast... http://everwebcodebox.com/info/ftp-optimize.html ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! I use Filezilla, lets you publish to a local folder first to check all is well, and then use synchronised upload to any server while viewing the files on both your machine and the server. https://filezilla-project.org/index.php Martin |

I was using Transmit but just switched to uploading FTP with the new beta of EverWeb – with only a couple of oddities: – I needed help from EverWeb with the set-up screen. Possibly all servers are a little different. – EverWeb did not like the idea of updating the site as it was. Easiest fix was going on my server, deleting all files in the site folder (leaving the folder, etc.) and clicking pull down to update the site. Fine from that point on. – I don't use the button on the bottom of the screen because when I quit EverWeb and reopen, the setting selections reverts to publish to folder. I have to reselect publish to FTP. The settings are all still there. And you can watch the progress and file scanning right there. I'm sure these oddities will be fixed. Another oddity is that when the notice comes down to click to go to your site, it's the same issue as with iWeb - the way my server is set up, the address EverWeb tries to take you to does Not take you to the site. I simply go the regular way. A way to set this manually would be a nice touch. On the good side, sometimes Transmit would miss files in subfolders - in spite of the date - and I would have to sync a second time. So far I haven't seen any of this using the EverWeb ftp. |

I use Transmit and I love this software. You can see both windows (Mac and FTP site, you can synchronize the FTP site with your publish folder. The software then looks at the dates and delete the oldest one, and also delete the files that are not on your Mac but are on the FTP site, and vice versa... All that implies that you keep your Everweb publish folder on your Mac pretty clean. If you do so, the sites will be exactly the same ! Like it very much ! | |

It seems to be a rather expensive software at $34... (Transmit)

If you look at the Everweb price, that's quite an expensive software too ! It's presently the same price as Adobe Lightroom which is a Pro software ! :-) But, I am working with Transmit since 2 years and I had NO bug, NO transmission problem. That worth 34$ well invested ! An App on the Mac app Store at 1.99$ will give you features for 1.99$ ! :-) |

Marc, I didn't mean it is not worth it...:) I guess I was wondering if it is worth the money and your answer is yes, it is... I have been using Cyberduck which was free ( I gave them a donation) and have been happy with it but it looks like Transmit is a better software... ------------------------------- Yelena MacBook Pro OS X 10.10.3 IMac 21" OS X 10.10.3 |

I too have been using Transmit for probably 5 years now... It's a program that is familiar to Apple users, I like the "sync" function, use it all the time. But if you've been using Cyber Duck and you like it, why change? I started with "Fetch" (back in the day!) The $34 app has many features that the average user doesn't need and won't ever use so why pay for them? I use the full version of Yummy FTP which I have had for a number of years. At one point I was handling sites for over 50 clients and used a lot of its features. Yummy Lite has all the features that I need now and a far better interface than Cyberduck. Anyone who has $30 to spend on an FTP app would be better to use the money for an optimizer which will process the files for faster download and upload the changed files to the server. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Some people say that it's not worth the extra money to buy an Apple computer… Download the trial of Transmit and try it. If you don't think it's worth $30 don't buy it. S ------------------------------- MacBook Pro 15in Retina 10.14.6 Nevada, U.S.A Apple since OS 7.1 LE II (pizza box) |

I would be interested to know which features you think that Yummy Lite lacks in terms of FTP and server side file maintenance. In terms of unloading an EverWeb site, what necessary features does Transmit have that YL doesn't? What is Yummy Lite lacking? Does it, in your opinion, suffer from poorer performance? I'm sure others following this thread would be interested to know what advantages are gained by spending an extra $32.01! ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb!
