Features that are unavailable when not Hosting with Rage.

User: Paul H. 10 years ago
Hi, I am interested in purchasing Everweb as a replacement for my iweb site.

Few questions please before I go ahead and decide to buy..

Hosting - I have Hosting here in the Uk with 123 Reg which I have just re purchased for the year so I am happy with that, however, It says when looking at all the features your web site software offers that some of the features are unavailable or don't work if not purchased with your hosting, can you elaborate on this please? What features do not work correctly if I just buy the software standalone please and host with my provider in Uk?

Or if I decided to add hosting with Rage, would it matter if my hosting is in US if mainly my audience and site viewers are Uk based visitors? And what are your hosting benefits?

Best wishes,

paul

Currently all features of EverWeb will work with any web hosting provider. Some users have had trouble with certain features due to restrictions of these web hosting providers, or they didn't publish their sites correctly.

If you have any issues with any features they are fixable on any web hosting provider but we aren't able to help because we don't know how the server is set up. If you use our one-click publishing feature, all features are guaranteed to work without any additional set up.

The only feature that a very few web hosting providers are having trouble with is the mobile website redirects. These should work any where, but if you have trouble with them, only your web hosting provider will be able to help you fix it.

This page describes how to publish a mobile version of the site from a separate project file to a sub domain and gives the redirect code…

That is virtually the same code EverWeb uses, but without the ability to link back to a desktop version. If it doesn't work with EverWeb's built in mobile redirect there is little point to doing this besides just adding extra work for the user. There would be another reason why it didn't work and it would be easier to figure out why, then to just duplicate what EverWeb is doing.

My reason for doing this is so that the site can be created on a separate project file. Creating it on the same one as a large conventional site is impractical.

Allowing users to view the conventional site on a smart phone kind of defeats the point in creating the mobile site in the first place!
