Hi Paul
I just discovered Everweb on my Mac magazine and it is awesome ! as easy as iWeb with more features ! You just "save my life" since I run 6 iWeb websites and I have to move smoothly through a new software which is now definitely Everweb. All others are just ridiculous compared to Everweb.
Thanks and congrats to your all your team !
As I posted in the forum, would be fantastic for all of us to benefit as well from new templates as we had with iWeb to this address : http://www.iwebthemespark.com/Home.html
Anyway, I will start with Everweb now to move all my websites to your server very soon.
Great stuff ! Christian

Hi Paul,

I'm a bit strapped for time at the moment but am launching some new products in two weeks time - so I have to update my EW site next week.

How easy is it to retrospectively add a master template to my existing site? I have well over 100 pages already and don't want to disturb the body of content on any of them. As you know, I have made a header and footer for my site which is consistent across all pages. The footer I am keen to update every now and then and Master templates could be a god-send!

Can I just make a footer in the Master template and then apply this to all my pages and it won't effect the header or body content/length of pages etc of the pages I apply the template to?

Thanks

Darren

Hi Darren,

You would just create your master page and design it. Then you'd have to go through each page and select the master template for each one. You would also have to delete any existing shapes on each page that you have already added to your master template.

It would be tedious, but can be done fairly quickly.

Thanks Paul,

I've run into a problem with the master templates, here is what I have just done:

1. Created a New master template (Beta 5)
2. Made the master template header and footer sizes the same width/length as my header and footer for all my site pages
3. Copied the header and footer content from the home page into the master page header and footer areas
4. Deleted the header and footer content from my home page
5. Applied the master template to my home page

The result is that the header is where I expected it to be... at the top and the right size, no issues here. The issue I have is that the footer is not in the footer area of my home page and I can no longer specify the length of my home page/or any page with the master template applied to move the footer. The footer seems to be where it is on my master template page. Surely this makes Master templates un-usable for anyone who wants to apply them to more than one page with different page lengths?...

Am I doing something wrong? The only solution I can see is to create a Master template for every page with a different length... defeating the object.

I can't reproduce this issue, at least as the way I understand it.

Would it be possible for you to put together a screen recording of the issue so I can get a better understanding of the issue?

You can record your screen using Quicktime which is in your Applications folder. Open Quicktime and select 'New Screen Recording' from the File menu.

Once you are done, your recording will be on your desktop. Please send that .mov file to support by opening a ticket.
