Viewing Firefox video widget problem

Firefox video widget problem

User: Mark C. 12 years ago
Using the video widget I have inserted a MP4 and WebM files to a page, published to local folder, then uploaded to my hosting service using Cyberduck, in the progress bar I can see both files uploading, I can see both files on my hosting service folder and also in the page code looking at the page source. Video playes okay in Safari and Internet Explorer but not using Firefox, continually displaying loading icon.

What is the URL of the published page with the video and what version of Firefox are you using?

The problem is that neither the WebM nor the OGV are being found by the browser. The problem would appear to be with the file extensions..

About your files.

First, you should take out the spaces in the file names or, better still, substitute a hyphen so that the file name is…

back-focus-final-broadband.mp4

The first file should be .mp4 not .mov

Change this…
back-focus-final-broadband.webmsd.webm
… to…
back-focus-final-broadband.webm

Change this…
back-focus-final-broadband.oggtheora.ogv
… to...
back-focus-final-broadband.ogg

If you want a faster loading webpage using a poster image for the movie you can use one of the widgets shown here…

The MP4 video widget is similar to the EW default one except that it uses a poster image, doesn't preload and will fallback to flash in Firefox and Opera and older versions IE so that you only have to upload one video file - an MP4.
