Viewing Shape, Button & Line Widgets

Shape, Button & Line Widgets

Here's some widgets for creating shapes which use CSS and HTML rather than images…

This widget will create buttons with gradient colors, borders, hyperlinks and rollover colors…

Mobile websites need large numbers of fingertip sized buttons. Using images for these will slow download time and create extra server requests over wireless networks.

Hi Roddy,

Love the new widgets! As always really easy to use and make a difference. I use a lot of shapes on my site and images that I could otherwise use your widgets for, dramatically improving loading times for my pages. Starting point is to re-make the Header and Footers using Master Templates with your shapes and lines.

Whilst doing this, I have come across the same refresh/EW previewing problem as with the Back to Top and Heading widgets. The issue I am having is that as I adjust the size and setting of the widget, the EW preview updates the first few times, then just stops updating! This is really annoying as I often can't see the result of the changes I have made without publishing the page. The changes always publish but EW stops updating the preview, making them really frustrating to us.

Paul has mentioned that EW uses Safari's cache for rendering (or something like that...) so when I Reset Safari and clear all web data I can find, (a simple "Reset Safari" doesn't always work) the widget starts updating and EW shows the preview as it should.

There seems to be an issue with EW updating changes with widgets resulting in me continually having to deep clean my Safari data.

Any light anyone can shed on this is really appreciated as the Widgets are awesome.

I ran into the same issue after starting to use the widgets. (Roddy, thank you for those! I sent you a message from your website) One thing I found is that if I make size adjustments ( to lines for example) and THEN change color everything works. However, if I set the color and then change the size the Preview does not reflect that. The Published version looks correct though...

Is there any more news on the Preview not working for snippets/widgets? I'm about to build a second site and could really do without the frustration of not being able to see their contents. There is a chance I will need to teach a colleague how to use EW to help build/maintain this new site but I am weary of promoting a product that makes it difficult, confusing or time consuming for non-web people to use. Any ideas?
