Sorry for the problems you are experiencing. I am not sure why this would happen. Does your web host change your web site's encoding? ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Dear Paul, Looks like browsers can not reed (or interpret) "ew_siteInfo.xml" file. I have manually to instruct any browser i tried to encode UTF-8. After that it works. This is what EW1.1 generated for "ew_siteInfo.xml": ![]() Also some Widgets do not work properly. Changing changing encoding to UTF-8 solve its performance. How to instruct browsers to encode default Unicode-UTF-8???? I appreciate your assistance. Last edit 12 years ago |

Hm… The index.html file already has the instruction: meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8" I'm lost :) Help needed. Thanks. |

What application do you use to upload the files to the server? Is the FTP app set to use Unicode (UTF-8) as the default encoding? ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! 1. I use WinSCP 2. I transfer .zip archive (binary mode). Then unzip command on the server. |

That could be the cause of the problem. Try using an FTP app like Cyberduck. I would recommend using Yummy Lite. $1.99 from the App Store. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Roddy, I'm confused a lot! As far as I transfer archive = all files comes unchanged. I believe, this is a kind of standard. What supposed to be different by using another FTP client??? I appreciate if you could provide me with some knowledge or a link... Thanks |

I'm just suggesting that you try another transfer method since the encoding appears to be getting change - either in the transfer or on the server.

Well, i made it backward: 1. Executed zip command on server: entire derictory archived. 2. Downloaded from server back to HDD 3. Unpacked 4. MD5 ChecktSumm on all files executed against HDD files (which have been transferred earlier)= ALL FILES IDENTICAL ![]() Thus, FTP client delivered everything correctly. I do not understand your logic. I have to fix UTF-8 by default. Please, help.. |

Roddy, I purchased Yummy FTP and uploaded my server from the clean. Nothing changed as expected :) I expect your assistance on my steps. What supposed to be wrong? Why browsers can not get your instructions on UTF-8? Thanks. |

Have you contacted your hosting service's tech support about this? What do they say?

SOLVED! I’m proud I fixed it by myself :) Simple: Create and add .htaccess file to the root folder of EW site with following content: AddDefaultCharset utf-8 AddCharset utf-8 .html .css .js DefaultLanguage en-US Anyway thank you for assistance. New FTP client looks acceptable. Cheers! Last edit 12 years ago |
