Hello, I have updated to version 1.1 and since then all my jpeg's on my site have been converted to png files. Any jpeg I subsequently add,via drag and drop, asset manager or import becomes a png. Do you know when this might be fixed? I can't continue with my site at the moment,I'm a photographer and most of my site is based on jpeg's. Thanks Last edit 12 years ago |

Re-download EverWeb 1.1 from here, replacing your older version, and this should be fixed. http://www.everwebapp.com Adding transparency, rotation or masking with a shape will convert JPEGs to PNGS though. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Thank you. That worked. If I select images with normal and roll over states this obviously changes the jpeg state. Using the image widget preserves jpeg and puts the image in the external images folder. Anyway,it's all working so full steam ahead. Epic support. |

Question, Simon... Why would you care if it used PNG? PNG is generally a superior lossless file type compared to jpeg... S [quote name=Simon C. time=01/12/2013 15:28:42]Thank you. That worked. Hi Steve, Well.......I'm not that familiar with png's,I've spent years getting jpegs to look correct (or as near as possible) in a lot of different browsers and on lots of different viewing devices. I also use ICC profiles ( which will tell devices and browsers what the images "should" look like) . Of course not all browsers and devices are ICC savvy but I made a lot of dosh offering an ICC profiling and monitor calibrating service. I can hone a jpeg to the lowest possible kb, png files can be between 4 - 10 times larger in terms of file size. That may not be so important with todays internet speeds. Ultimately it all comes down to the MK 1 human eyeball . Side by side png's do not look the same as jpeg's. I'm not talking about better or worse....just how they appear visually. Anyway, enough about me. |
