Creating nav bars that link to outside pages

User: UncleTod 10 years ago
Is it possible to create a nav bar whose items are linked to external pages or files? I upload a few files each month (an event calendar pdf, a newsletter pdf) to my host and I'd like to paste their URLs into the nav bar.

I have a little workaround for this.

Create a blank page - absolutely no content required - and make sure it is included in the navigation with a suitably exciting name like "Newsletter".

Paste this code into the Head Code box in the Page inspector...

Replace - http://www.website.com/page-name.html - with the URL to the page or file.

When the navigation link is clicked, the visitor will be instantly redirected to that destination and will never see the ugly, blank page.

Could something like 'Make Navigation a link' be added by the 'Include page in navigation menu'? I now have a similar requirement, where I want a nav link to open an alternative page.

We may be able to add this for a future version but Roddy's suggestion will work right now.

Has anyone had success with this method? I created a new page, pasted this:

into the header section, saved, and previewed but so far I'm getting only a blank page.

HEADER and HEAD are two completely different elements in the web page!

You don't paste the code in the HEADER. It is pasted into the HEAD of the HTML document via the Head Code box in the Page inspector.

Roddy, Sorry, yes, that is what I did.
Then saved,
clicked preview.
clicked on home page in Firefox
clicked link to page on home page,
Still got only a blank
I really don't know html coding so maybe I put something in wrong.
Sent screenshot, thanks for all your help. I am enjoying exploring the program and love what it can do.
