Viewing EasyWeb Gallery

EasyWeb Gallery

I notice that the EasyWeb Gallery is the subject of some harsh criticism. Those of you who have read my posts here will know that I have given many examples of alternatives and, the more astute will notice, that I have never actually mentioned the default one. The reason is quite simply that, until just now, I had never tried it!

Here's my first attempt at making it a little more unique...

Update: I really couldn't handle the default "Close" button so I replaced it with my own. Here it is if anybody wants to use it..

Drag it into Assets and use this code to insert it in the CSS...

div.dark_square .pp_close { width: 25px; height: 29px; background: url(ewExternalFiles/x.png) 0 0 no-repeat; cursor: pointer; }

Now the previous/next buttons have been altered to suit my "theme".

Boy if it's not the Smurfs, it's Pixar!

I don't think people want to have to write code for such fundamental features like photo galleries. I'm not going to harp on this though because I've found an alternative which works for me, and I know, in time, EasyWeb will improve the widget. My number one request: allow photos to be shown at Actual Size; or at least larger than 600px wide.

Nobody needs to write any code. The various themes are in the CSS and it just requires them to be implemented by the developers along with the other options like image size, oversize and so on.

It's not PrettyPhoto that is limiting the sizes - it's EasyWeb.

What I don't understand is why EasyWeb creates 3 different versions of each image and its corresponding thumbnail. That seems to me to be a lot of unnecessary stuff to upload to the server - especially for those that have dozens of images!
