Publishing Entire Site - does it overwrite the Folder?

I thought that's what it did, but some of my old files are still there as I discovered during my 30 minute upload. I had imported dozens of photos to use in a gallery but then deleted the Gallery and all of the photos from my assets. There's still in my Folder. And now that I'm looking in there, so are other old files. Wouldn't it make sense for these EW specific folders to just be completely overwritten?

Wouldn't it make sense for these EW specific folders to just be completely overwritten? It would - and it wouldn't! Normally, files and folder get overwritten by new ones with the same name. If you create a new gallery with a different name or ID number it won't overwrite the original. I pointed, out way back, that there is no way to access the EasyWeb server to delete redundant files. Given that an EasyWeb account has a fairly low max capacity you can imagine that it will get used up quickly if you create a slideshow with a number of large images and maybe add a few HTML5 movies and then abandon them. Perhaps EasyWeb will eventually be like iWeb and delete redundant files for you. Those who publish to another server via a local folder can obviously do it themselves using their FTP app or the host's file manager. In my experience, very few actually know, or take the time, to do this! I clean out my hosting accounts on a regular basis to make them easier to manage but I know for a fact that I am in a minority. I can understand Rage's reluctance to allow users to access the server since most users probably don't know what files they shouldn't delete! If/when EasyWeb is capable of deleting redundant files, my question would be, "What happens to all the existing redundant files on the server?" Not being a programmer I don't now if it is possible but it would make sense if all the redundant files could be trashed when the user selected "Publish All...". Either that or have a separate function for "Spring Cleaning". ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! We're working towards just that. Publish All should delete the existing files and publish your entire site.

Publish all to a local folder doesn't even publish some page files for me - never mind overwrite the redundant ones...![]() This shot shows that the page file I deleted is still there and the other three pages aren't. I did "Publish All" twice to make sure that this was real! ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! So of you make a change to them now and publish, do they get published to the folder? Are you logged into an account or is this without being logged in? ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

I have tried changing each page and then publishing using both "Publish Site Changes" and "Publish Entire Site". I am logged in to the EasyWeb account. Should I logout and try publishing? ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Also can you post a screenshot of the entire folder in list view so I can see the modification dates?
