So if we've signed up for hosting with rage we don't need to do anything, correct? | |

You guys have done a fantastic job so far. I generally love the software and believe it has a strong future. But if I may, as a humble beta tester, offer a personal opinion... I don't think it's ready yet for prime time. I'm still encountering bugs on a daily basis and have reported many issues today that have not yet been resolved (i.e. shifting X/Y coordinates, unresponsive text in text blocks, tabs not working). There's still the issue of colours publishing darker (page and browser bg, shapes etc.). The Navigation Bar is still far too limited in design choices, encouraging many to override the styles using CSS. The assets section has no management system to sort files in folders or by date or name, and I'm sure glad I'm not one of those people with hundreds of photos to have to scroll through! But beyond all this, I would've expected the final sales version to include Blogging (or some form of handling Comments/Feedback), as well as a Video and Audio Widget. I realize there's third parties for all of these things, but it took me a while to figure that out, and until people are schooled, they might just search elsewhere. Perhaps it would be an idea to offer a roadmap listing the features you intend to implement in the first paid version. Also, will there be a manual? I do think though it is important to fix the bugs before the software is put of Beta. ------------------------------- Yelena MacBook Pro OS X 10.10.3 IMac 21" OS X 10.10.3 |

Firstly, thanks for your feedback. I appreciate your honest and thorough points below; Quote: I'm still encountering bugs on a daily basis and have reported many issues today that have not yet been resolved (i.e. shifting X/Y coordinates, unresponsive text in text blocks, tabs not working). Shifting x/y is a tough one because of how the internals of EasyWeb work. Still looking into it though. I think this is a major issue but not a show stopper because most of the time you don't need pixel perfect design on a website. That being said, I'd still like to get it fixed. unresponsive text in text blocks - If you can reproduce this, let me know. tabs not working - this should be working in beta 24. Is that not the case for you? Quote: There's still the issue of colours publishing darker (page and browser bg, shapes etc.). This is one of the more complex issues to solve, but good news we've solved it for the next version. Colors on web pages (since they can be shown on different devices) are a very complex topic. I may do a blog post about this so people understand how colors work on the web. Quote: The Navigation Bar is still far too limited in design choices, encouraging many to override the styles using CSS. Currently the line separators in the submenus are the biggest issue which we may allow an option to change. But for version 1 I think it has a lot of features as is. We will add more and you can customize it with custom CSS if needed. We can't go too crazy and what one person needs another person may not and vice versa. It is difficult to find the correct balance. Quote: The assets section has no management system to sort files in folders or by date or name, and I'm sure glad I'm not one of those people with hundreds of photos to have to scroll through! The thing about EasyWeb is that we wanted it to be familiar for iWeb users but provide more power. iWeb didn't have an assets list and in EasyWeb it can technically be ignored. So although I think it is an improvement over iWeb, it still needs work. We will improve it but I don't think it is necessary in version 1. Quote: But beyond all this, I would've expected the final sales version to include Blogging (or some form of handling Comments/Feedback), as well as a Video and Audio Widget. Blogging is complex but we are working on a great system. Audio/Video can be added with a widget which we can add after version 1 without even updating. We want to do a really good blogging system and hopefully will have something before the end of the year. Quote: I realize there's third parties for all of these things, but it took me a while to figure that out, and until people are schooled, they might just search elsewhere. We worry about this too, but remember once we release version 1 that's just the beginning. EasyWeb in many ways far surpasses many of the web builders currently available. In some ways it needs improvements. But we have been working on EasyWeb for over 2 years. We need to start selling it and making sure it will be profitable ( Someone needs to pay for my food :) ) No matter what is included or not, I know we are going to have some very harsh critics. It is difficult to create a product that everyone was used to getting for "free" (after spending $1000+ on a computer of course). People don't want to buy software labelled beta. But on the other hand, EasyWeb has been in beta for a very long time and even now it can be used to build many kinds of websites. EasyWeb even has an auto update feature and with the $99/year plan all updates are free. It's not worth delaying it until it has every feature while many people can use it with the features it has because they don't need blogging or audio/video. When it comes down to it, if we don't ship, and we don't have paying customers, there won't be any EasyWeb at all... Again, thanks for your feedback. It is very much appreciated and taken very seriously. I hope from the features we have added and changes we have made over the last few months it is clear that we listen to our customers and want to deliver a great product. Many times a feature is not implemented, not because we don't want to, but because it is actually complex to add at the moment. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Quote: I think this is a major issue but not a show stopper because most of the time you don't need pixel perfect design on a website. For me personally none of it is a show stopper as I am already used to EasyWeb and can always find a work around if necessary. But as I said I would rather have less features working perfectly than more features and lots of bugs...:) But that's just me... [quote="Paul-RAGESW":1q6dtvqn]You can purchase EasyWeb and use it with any Web Hosting plan just as you do now. The so called "standalone" version won't be any cheaper. Are there any offers on the standalone version too if I register/book now itself? And how to register/create account, for a standalone version only? |

The "standalone" version will be the same price or more expensive when we enable the option. You can purchase EasyWeb now and get the 6 month extension and use it with any web hosting provider.

So far so good, just downloaded the EasyWeb Beta 24 and started to use it. I like it. The only thing is that I already have a place to publish my website, looks like I can't do that with the Beta (which is something I can understand), so I guess I need to buy the soft to fully shift from iWed to EasyWeb. I'm I right ? Thanks for the nice soft ! Phil |

PhilV, if you want to upload / publish your website to another host than Rage, you'll need to publish your EasyWebsite to a folder and then use a FTP program to upload it to your webspace.
