Viewing Pasting a spreadsheet into an EasyWeb page

Pasting a spreadsheet into an EasyWeb page

User: martinmcnolie 12 years ago
I need to include a timetable made from a spreadsheet on one of my webpages and this is easily done in iWeb by just selecting the cells of the spreadsheet, and using copy and paste into the iWeb page. I've tried doing the same thing in Easyweb but all the formatting is lost. Also tried using pdf format but that doesn't work properly either.

Is there any way I can get a spreadsheet into an Easyweb page ?

It looks like iWeb inserts spreadsheets as an image so you can take a screenshot and drag that into EasyWeb.

You can take a screenshot by holding down the COMMAND and SHIFT keys on your keyboard and then pressing the number 3. An image file will appear on your desktop which you can drag into EasyWeb.

I will see what we can add to EasyWeb though. It would be better if we can insert it properly as a table, but I am not sure how easily we can add that.

Hi Martin,

Check out this link:

Midway, Roddy offers a solution to creating tables by inserting code. It's something I was looking at too. Cheers

What application are you using to create the spreadsheet?

Doesn't work properly I'm afraid. It carries over the text and most of the formatting, but not the column widths so the text from some cells overwrites the text from adjacent cells.

So, what you are saying is, when you export the doc as an HTML file and double click it to launch it in the browser it loses it's formatting?

Why then would you use this application to create a spreadsheet?

Have you tried PDF as well?

Using a spreadsheet is the only way I've found to easily create a timetable in a web page that doesn't have a table feature. Works fine in iWeb. I tried pdf and it didn't work well - all explained in my first post.

You didn't really explain why a PDF wasn't satisfactory.

The easiest way to do this in any web design app is to create a separate html doc with tables etc and display this on the web page using an iframe. That way you can update the doc without having to change anything on the web page or republish it.

If you create a doc like this in one of the iWork apps (Keynote for example) you should be able to copy and paste it over to EasyWeb. It worked with iWeb although most users didn't seem to think so!
