Viewing Metrics X Y Positioning

Metrics X Y Positioning

User: Roddy 13 years ago
When I try to get the position of two text boxes exactly the same on two pages of the site, the metrics inspector will not allow me to adjust them with any precision.

Say one box is at 320x and141y and I try to get it to 140y to match the one on the other page. I set this in metrics, either with the up down arrows, changing the number or deleting and retyping the number and it always reverts back to 141px.

I thought at one point that it was because I had "Allow free dragging" checked but unchecking it doesn't make any difference.

Even more confusing is that when I publish the site and open it in WebDesign I see that the CSS positioning for the two boxes is exactly the same y=140px.

When I go back into EasyWeb, the metrics inspector is showing both as y=141px.

Going back to this in the cold light of the morning I tried deleting the published files and republishing.

This is what the metrics inspector tells me...

The result in the published page CSS is...

<div style="left:320px;top:140px;height:36px;width:100px;z-index: 1;position: absolute">

I believe these are rounding errors. I've add this to the bug list.
