[quote="admin":2j7t8qv1]"The navigation bar works just like iWeb's did"[/quote:2j7t8qv1] Admin, when you reply with the above its worth considering not all easyweb users have knowledge of iWeb or web design in general. Alot of us newbies are reading these posts ... replies for any snippet of info that can help us. I have a suggestion, your reply could be a 20/30 second demo viddy of the correct way to do a particular function now how great would that be? This would enable us to try things, practice ... know where one is going wrong. |

Roddy that's really helpful info. I would love too see a viddy example of creating a basic page layout, showing the pros and cons of having things set out in a particular way. To me this is the foundation stage and so important. "I agree with the less is more" way of doing stuff, alot of engineering in life is more efficient this way. How does one know what dimensions a page width should be? Or what the most useful width would be. Page heights also, always nice to avoid scrolling to view content is best imo. I notice when working in easyweb page you have to keep scrolling from left to right to see everything thing is their a quick look option to see what the page looks like at any given time? I added a the YouTube widget and a URL but it wouldn't play in the page! Will it only play on publishing? How do you create practice pages with out loosing the pages you've created that you kinda like ... may want to use? Can you have more than one site in creation at anyone time and if so where are these sites stored in easyweb for easy access to choose one to publish? I and no doubt others appreciated all your help. |

The "standard" page width is taken to be 980px for viewing on desktop computers and anything over 1054px may result in some viewers having to scroll horizontally which everybody detests. Height is a matter of common sense and I try not to go more than 1200px. Its not as though extra pages cost you any more! Its a good idea to put "Next Page" link at the bottom. If you are working on a laptop you should get familiar with the command to show/hide the inspector - Option/Command/I Then you can stretch out the application window so that you can see the whole page width. Narrow down the left column if you need to as well. As far as YouTube is concerned, you should be able to see it in EasyWeb. Try publishing your site. If you still can't see the movie then you need to check the URL in the browser to see if its correct. If you create a page(s) that you want to keep but don't want others to see when the site is published, uncheck the box next to "Include page in the navigation menu" in the Page inspector. You can create as many sites as you want and they will appear in the list in the EasyWeb startup window. Double click any one to launch it in EW. To delete a site, highlight its name and hit your delete button. The site folders are stored in the user library/Application Support/EasyWeb. You shouldn't need to go there! ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! | Thanks again, I did try different urls none worked. I do not want to publish something just to it working. I assume publishing means its out there for everyone to see, this is no good to me as my set has hardly started. | |

Click the site name at the top of the left column in EasyWeb and select the option to publish to a folder. You can create an EasyWeb folder on your desktop or anywhere else convenient. Choose this as the destination. Click the "Publish" button in the bottom toolbar and, once its done, open the EasyWeb folder and then double click the index.html file to launch the local version of your site in the browser. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! I read most of the comments above and prepared myself with the "Mind Set", this is not iWeb. With that the initial reaction was the same as others have commented, bland in colour and "I don't like this".If I had just forked out $99, there would be great disappointment. It's growing on me as the day goes on and I learn a little more, but its very slow progress. How about an information bar, I don't know the proper name, but where you point the mouse over something and you get a box with information/instruction. If its simple to implement, it could be a big game changer based on most people's comments and the "I don't like this" initial reaction most of us have had. |

@Davidson2: Can you please elaborate a little bit more on what you didn't like? We believe EasyWeb is very similar to iWeb, but with many more features. We really need to know specifics in order to make it better. Bearing in mind that probably about 50% of your customers may not have used iWeb before, there needs to be just that extra piece of comfort and guidance. I hate when I buy software, (Pixelmator as an example) and I feel deflated at not knowing what to do. As someone who normally steers away from forums, the program makes me feel... Well, Stupid. I read great reviews, then discover I need (what feels like) a Stanford degree to understand it. This can be where people, like me, feel deflated, defeated and as I said "Stupid". I believe consumers want... No expect a piece of software for their iPhone, iPad or iMac to in Steve Jobs words "Just Work". We don't expect a manual or for it to need more brain power than spreading toast. It's just an Apple expectation thing I guess. Anyway, back to the point; A tool tip for guidance would solve most of the above, even just a sentence or so with a link if required. I think you are looking for a simple product. "Simplicity can be very complicated to achieve." There you are, my quote off the day. The above is all intended as positive input from a simple Scotsman, who is looking for a simple solution. I also think that I speak on behalf of most of the customers that you hope to gain and whilst its probably a huge job to implement, it could make the difference with Reviews especially as people tend to complain more than they praise. Hope that helps. |

Hi, There are tooltips in EasyWeb's inspector just as there were in iWeb. Making something "simple" to one user may be difficult to another user. So if you have specific feedback about what you don't understand please let me know. Everybody thinks and works differently so please let me know what things didn't understand and we will see if we can improve them, with tooltips or other resources. Also keep in mind, with any software there is going to be a learning curve. I don't think anyone is going to be able to pick up any web building software and be able to understand it without a little bit of education. It's powerful and complex by nature, so don't feel stupid if it doesn't come to you right away. We have already begun working on video tutorials on written instructions to help overcome this. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

I Echo Davidson2 thoughts too. For a great launch with great reviews I think you need to put as much work into the tutorials (written ... viddy) as anything else. I think you need the tutorials in the beta for a good while so web dummies like myself can try them ... give feedback. |

A glossary of terminology with explanation would be really useful in the help section of easyweb. |

| Thanks Paul for understanding. It's gotta be a horrid job to try and please everyone. I do understand the learning curve and the unique and privileged position we are all in here with a Beta version. We are all at different knowledge levels, but the simpler the better. I am aware that we can get so emerged in a subject, that we cannot see the woods for the trees. I will give another brief at the end of the week. With the sound of other comments, I think I'll love it! | |
