EasyWeb is a great improvement over iWeb in respect of creating colored background shapes in that it doesn't use images as long as you don't use gradients.

If you want to use gradients its better create a widget using HTML and CSS...

Use the same technique to create translucent shapes...

EasyWeb may have a steeper learning curve than iWeb but the rewards are much, much greater.

Looks great Roddy. I love the buttons and drop down menu. Are these created in the same way as we would have in iWeb; I.e. Shape ... text box?

No, they are done by entering the HTML into a Widget and the CSS styles into the header code box in the Page inspector.

Here is our first website moved from iweb to easyweb. It will be adjusted and refined over next few weeks. I have found easyweb pretty simple to get used to, I have used iweb a lot and for me the biggest sticking point for moving away from iweb was the learning curve for other apps. Can't wait to see what coming next ... hoping to see some ecommerce features.

there seems to be a slight box around your "custom rugs" link

you really need to look close but, it caught my eye.

What should catch the eye is the misalignment of this image with the other two. The containing div is 1px higher than the image size.

There's some great sites out there. I guess I'd better get to work. Here's my humble try. I was just trying to get a feel for the different pages. Then I went back and tried to fancy them up a bit.

Noticed your about me page doesn't present itself correctly on an ipad. The location map overlaps the text, hope this helps.
Boy your quite a character though...

Shaun and Roddy, That's not fair. It's great on my computer screen. I just checked it on my iPhone ... oops. Funny how that happens.

Shaun, thank you ... a character is what I strive to be at Woodsterman. My work, however, is at http://www.dustnlint.com (iWeb site)

Paul, based on the comments above, is there different page parameters we should be using to ensure iPad/iPhone aligns better, since WSJ says 42.5% of the worlds population uses iDevices, i think we have to ensure that this parameter is met from the onset. Do others agree?

P.S: An amazing craftsman john! Enjoyed viewing your creations.

Davidson2, Thank you.

That large space between the lines is from hitting "Return" and the narrow is from letting the text wrap. [b:283jynv2]Is that a "Bug" Paul?[/b:283jynv2]

One of the thankless and unseen tasks in creating websites is testing the result in all the different browsers and various devices.

A lot of Mac users don't have the means to test their designs in Internet Explorer but they can in Chrome and Firefox. I know too many iWeb users tested their designs in Safari which is kind of useless since so few people on this planet use the desktop version.

If you are concerned about how your site will look on iPad/iPhone you should install the iOS simulator. Its part of the Developer Tools. The screenshot I posted above is from the iPad simulator.

Most fixed width website designs are going to perform OK on large tablets like the iPad but you can't expect them to be any use on iPad Mini, iPhone and similar devices.

Designs for mobile devices need to be fluid so that they can respond to the different screen widths of the various devices.

Example of a very simple setup...

http://ezmacwebdesign.com/Demo/toast/demo.html

Responsive design capability is in the works for EasyWeb as you will see if you look at the Page inspector Page Layout options. Dynamic Width is what you will be using to create design like the on I linked to above.
