Viewing 'Tabbed' windows?

'Tabbed' windows?

User: darrendixie123456789 12 years ago
I am creating a site to promote a range of products manufactured by a company I work for.

Something I would find really helpful would be a window (shape) that has a menu at the top of it to view the body of content (not sure that makes sense - read on...)

I would like users of my site to click a 'tab' and for a content window below the tabs to change depending on the tab selected - without having to reload an entire page or make multiple page to give the effect.

A great example of this I can see as I type this! I see it used all over the internet/applications.
See picture below:

Options (is a tab) Upload attachment (is another tab). The content below changes depending on the content within the tab... any ideas how I can do this (Roddy - I'm looking at you!)

Any chance this feature could be implemented (has been thought of) for future releases?

What's it even called?...

If you Google "jQuery tabs" you will be presented with infinite possibilities. Here are some of my own tests...

Basic Tabs...

Cool sliding tabs...

A "one page" responsive website created with tabs...

Find one you like online, let me know what it is and I'll help you get it together - if I can!

Thanks Roddy,

Here is a link to one I have found that should do the job! It is very plain, just has 'rounded' tops to the tabs... exactly like the ones used for this new forum!

I am a real drag and drop kind of user. I can present and assemble things on a page to make them look nice but coding really isn't my language so I apologies in advance if I increase your blood pressure while trying to make this work!

Would it be helpful for me to send you what I am hoping the finished result will look like? I need to write some text, get some images together etc so it might take a little while.

Thanks

Here's an example of easytabs.js with all the crap removed...

http://www.ezmacwebdesign.com/Demo/jquery-easytabs/

Everything is customizable so you would need to be specific about all the text styles, tab text, rollovers, the number of tabs required, the total width of the content and so on...

If you want to put images into it you would need to decide how they would be positioned. Me - I would probably float them and use text wrap.

If you don't want to put any of his info in the forum you can send me a PM and I'll give you an email address.
