How do I find my site's CSS code?

User: Christopher 12 years ago
I've been trying to get a third-party video player playlist to work for ages now. Their tech support wrote back, saying:

A special character at line 186 (just before ".sv_playlist .video_wrap.active {") invalidates the subsequent CSS. Removing this character will fix your issues.

How do I find line 186? They previously sent me an Index page on GitHub Gist that seemed to have my site's entire code on it. How do we do the same?

Chris

Open the page HTML doc in a code editor. I you don't have one, download the freeware Fraise...

My best guess is they are referring to code you entered into EasyWeb. You need to find that line they are referring to in the code you pasted into EasyWeb and remove the character.

Editing this code outside of EasyWeb will be tedious and difficult.

Roddy, it appears Fraise has been abandoned. Can you recommend a free alternative? Or is Smultron worth the $5?

Fraise has been abandoned for quite some time but still works OK.

I use Rage Software's WebDesign app for designing "real" websites.

Why don't you download the trial? It may have all the functionality you need. You might even start to use it to create websites when you grow up!

The app creates an instant preview as you type in code but, best of all, when you click on any object in the preview area, the appropriate code is highlighted in the code entry area. This makes it incredibly useful for finding code fast in a large document.

EasyWebbers could use it to auto create html inks, image tags, tables and so on...

I think you would find the app a great benefit for testing out stuff like your movie codes before committing then to EasyWeb.

Give the trial version a whirl and let me know how you get on.

You will be all growed up once you have tried WebDesign.app...

It's more or less guaranteed to instill maturity!
