Viewing Stacked Elements in a Responsive Row

Stacked Elements in a Responsive Row

User: Les C. 3 months ago
I've added a responsive row (via widget) to a responsive page. The row has been filled in with a color.

In that row, I placed a fill-width image with a transparency layer to let the background color through. All good to this point.

I now want to put in a couple of text boxes on top of that image. How do I do that?

Thanks.

Hi Les,

Thank you for your message.

If your goal is to stack elements vertically and place text over an image, using a Container Column is often a better approach than a Responsive Row.

Responsive Rows are primarily intended for horizontal layout, while a Container Column allows objects to stack naturally from top to bottom. This makes it easier to control vertical layout when placing an image and text in the same area.

If the image with the transparency is set as a background, it will remain purely visual and cannot have content layered over it. If the image is an object inside the Container Column, TextBoxes can be placed before or after it, and their widths and positioning adjusted to achieve the desired result.

If you can share a full-screen screenshot of your current setup in EverWeb, it will help confirm how things are configured and allow for more specific guidance.

Best regards,
M.S.

Thanks for your response. The Container Column solves part of the problem—was able to stack, but I lost both position (page centered) and responsive text).

The easiest solution was to put an html snipped in the responsive row and code.

Appreciate the response. Learned more about containers!

Hi Les

You might want to try a Container Free Flow instead. This container type will allow you to freely place and stack objects within the container, so no placement issues! ;)

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried a Free Flow, but was unable to get it to responsively center (horizontally) on the page. The Arrange/Align Objects/Center command wouldn't work. Maybe I didn't understand the full-functionality.
