How change one of pages to the home / index page?

Hi. I want to make one of my web pages the home page, because the design was better. How do I make it the Home / Index page? Thanks.

Hi Jurgen,

To set a different page as `<yourdomain.com>/index.html`, please open your project file.
In the left section, where you can see all of your pages, select the page you want to be the new `index` page, then drag and drop it to the top of the list.

Hi Jurgen,

Thank you for opening a ticket and for sending the project file.

The reason EverWeb was not creating an index.html page is because the page you set as your index/homepage (the first page in the Pages List) had been marked Do Not Publish. When a page is set that way, EverWeb will skip creating its file, and since that page was at the top of the list, no index.html was being generated.

Here’s how to fix it:

1. In your Page List, drag the first page further down so it’s not at the very top.
2. Control-click (or right-click) on it and choose Do Not Publish again to uncheck it.
3. Once publishing is enabled, drag it back to the top of the Page List. This makes it your index/homepage and EverWeb will generate an index.html file.
4. Go to File > Publish Entire Site. You should now see an index.html file created in your published folder.
5. Upload all of the generated files to your server, making sure to overwrite the existing ones.

Once these steps are done, your website should display correctly.

Best regards,
R.E.

I didn’t realize I had DO NOT PUBLISH checked (I had checked it because I spent a lot of time tweaking the page and didn’t want to upload it prematurely). Thanks to Jose and R.E. for their patient support!
