Viewing EasyWeb files

Why are they stored in the Application Support folder and not, let's say, in the user's site folder? I know you want to keep EasyWeb as easy as possible, but backing up projects by searching the Application Support folder, checking the console while opening a project to determine the file name seems more complicated to me than it would be to have the project files with the proper site name in the sites folder. Makes it easier to backup (TimeMachine) too. And yes, that's supposed to be a suggestion.... store the EasyWeb projects with a proper name in the sites folder for easier access and backup possibilities. ------------------------------- Darian new to web design ______________________ My websites: <b>Vocal Affairs</b> // <b>Singkehlchen</b> |

Most users don't need to access these files unless they are transferring them to another computer. I did ask the question about the file name a while back and was told this would change when the app comes out of beta. I hope it changes. I prefer to save website projects under the sites folder. Easier for TimeMachine backup too.

It would seem more sensible to me to have your projects in a readily identifiable folder like "EasyWeb-Projects".You can do this if you want. I created one in my Home folder , copied over the project file and renamed it with a real name. Double clicking the file launches it in EW and changes are saved to it. The downside is that the version in the EasyWeb Project Manager obviously is the one in Application Support/EasyWeb so there's no point in using the Project Manager. On the other hand, it's just as quick to browse to Home Folder/EasyWeb-Projects and double click the "name.easyweb" file to launch the site. I don't suppose it's advisable for the uninitiated to even try this but it does work. This would probably work but it hasn't been fully tested and therefor can't be officially support by us yet. We will allow having the project file located anywhere on your computer, even a dropbox so you can work on a website with a team. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |
