Viewing Responsive Webdesign

Responsive Webdesign

Maybe a good idea to make the layout responsive, so that the website can be viewed on a phone, tablet and a computer screen.

Just an idea <!-- s:-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":-)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:-) -->

We're working towards doing this but making an website "responsive" isn't just as easy as pressing a button and having EasyWeb decide how your site is going to look. The designer would have to design the website properly still.

If you look at the Page inspector --> Page Layout you will see that there is an option for "Dynamic Width".

This has not been fully implemented yet since we can't use percentages in the metrics inspector but will come someday!

Designing responsive sites that can be viewed on conventional computers and mobile devices is not exactly straight forward and is probably neither possible nor desirable using an app like EasyWeb.

A far more sensible option is to have two versions of your site - one for desktops and one for mobiles. My reasoning here is from experience trying to incorporate all the styles necessary for a design to work in older browsers which are still being used by a lot of people. Here's a test page of mine which will illustrate some of the functions required such as having two navigation menus for a start. Drag the browser width down to see the responsive action...

Note that all the media content such as images, slideshows, movies have to be made responsive as well!
