Viewing Tear Away Inspector

Tear Away Inspector

User: Guest 12 years ago
Since you cannot re-size the "Inspector" column, and for those of us with limited screen space (most of my work is done on a laptop), having a tear-away inspector, as in iWeb, would be useful.

Show/Hide the inspector by using the Window drop down menu or do - option/command/i

Sometimes (actually, more often than not), it is more convenient to simply have a floating window, rather than constantly hiding/un-hiding it, which can simply be moved around the screen, out of the way of segments of the page on which one is working, kind of like the color and font palettes. To quote Jello Biafra, "Give me convenience, or give me death (though I would rather defer for 'give me a better alternative, as opposed to "death"')."

We plan on adding a tear away inspector but not for version 1.

When working on a laptop, I find the show/hide window command a lot faster and more convenient than dragging these pesky windows around.

Even on a bigger screen it's an irritation and the one thing Apple could have done a long time ago was to enable diminish. That would lessen the aggravation and improve workflow.

Agreed. However, the reason applications have "Preferences" is so that users can customize the app to conform to the way that they work best. Yes, the windows can be an annoyance at times (and minimizing rather than closing the windows would be nice), but, particularly when developing new software, I think it's best to provide options that potentially will appeal to a larger audience.

Thanks, Roddy. All apologies for my ignorance and missing these posts, consequently cluttering up the board with redundant requests.

I only recently began experimenting with EasyWeb and am still getting acclimated to the forum. Nevertheless, I'll endeavor to be more thorough with my forum searches in the future and try not to annoy other members.

You're not cluttering up the forum! There's quite a lot of topics now and it's not easy to keep track of them.

One of the main reasons that I like the inspector as a panel - rather than a separate window - is the fact that the EasyWeb inspector is far more comprehensive and well featured compared with most. Compare its Page inspector with that of iWeb for example.

I find it convenient that you can resize the window inspector and also be able to move at will, for example, I'm used to working with a laptop and two monitors, and then the inspector window always put it on the second monitor in order to have one monitor all the free space for the design of the site, and according to the inspector always open, without having to show or hide each time
I believe strongly that it is a function to implement definitely makes it fast because many operations.

Luca, that's a good point. We will see what we can do but it most likely won't happen version 1
