Viewing + Symbol in PDF attachments

+ Symbol in PDF attachments

User: Michael Z. 8 years ago
On my site, I have a number of PDF attachments and some of them contain the + symbol in the file name. When I first built my site (I believe with EverWeb 2.3), all of the files worked correctly. I checked each and every link to make sure that the file worked correctly. They could be opened up in Safari or downloaded. I have since upgraded to 2.4 and then 2.5, and none of those files are able to be viewed on my site. I get an error saying "The requested document was not found on this server." However, the file is on the server and everything appears to be OK on my EverWeb file as well. All of the PDF attachments that do not include a + symbol work fine. I think this was a bug that appeared sometime between versions 2.3 and 2.5.

Any file which will become part of a URL should contain no spaces or special characters. Use hyphens instead of spaces and delete any special characters like * ! + and so on. This includes image, audio, video, text, PDF and ZIP.

The fact that it worked before doesn't alter the fact that you have a bad file path which should be corrected.

Roddy is correct, however can you post a URL to your website to test?

This can happen for a number of factors that may not include changes in EverWeb.

Hallo, I also had/have some issues like that in my site - I changed some Filenames so there is no space - on the server - and made a redirect to that document - in controll panel - maybe that could be a fast solution for now ?
