Some issues and bugs I noticed... and some suggestions...

Hallo, well, since you are developing and removing some issues there are some I noticed...

Some of the fonts used as "web friendly" are not web friendly at all - that should be changed

If I use a font in the app it should be in the "used recently", well it is not

there is also the issue of some templates that are in the app as default - they do not download and If you try to do so they give a error - maybe you should install the app on a new mac and see for yourself

The app ALWAYS generates a googlemaps.js and it is ALWAYS "Hello world" in it - that document is marked as not good in PageSpeed Insights from Google - if the document is deleted everything is fine...

Maybe add some code for combining all those js, css into one? and the documents - for example:

Leverage browser caching - to some www.google.com/maps/... that causes some issues

Avoid landing page redirects - if someone goes to my website without www or without using https there seems to be a problem redirecting the sites from the www.example.com what is the same as www.example.com/index.html or the redirection to a mobile website www.example.com/mobile/index.html
( i do redirect via .htaccess)

Optimize CSS Delivery of the following
/ew_css/home/pagestyle.css?3.592578e+9
/ew_css/textstyles.css
-those are generated by the app

maybe implement js and css minification (?) I always do that on a website -https://cssminifier.com/ and https://javascript-minifier.com/

Image optimization - always a issue - i optimize mine with ImageOptim on my mac so here is no issue then...

The "mobile" site in the app sometimes dose not "fit" into phone and has to be resized with the fingers - sometimes it is to big, sometimes it is smaller and sometimes it fits perfectly - ???

Those are some suggestions
Hope that 2.6 will come out soon

regards
Ana

Hi Ana,

Thank you for the suggestions!

Which one in particular? These fonts are taken from the operating system but the list is also customizable so if you add your own fonts into there they won't be web safe of course. You can also remove fonts from there that may have been accidentally added. By default they are the web safe fonts.

I will look into this.

They should all work. What error message do you get? Can you tell me if it happens with a specific template?

I will look into this now, this seems strange.

We actually do this already when it is possible. The textstyles.css is all your site wide css that is optimized for your website. Other CSS cannot be optimized this way.

We do this for many elements of EverWeb. For some it is not possible. I don't know what you are referring to with Google Maps though, can you explain further?

For EverWeb + Hosting customers we use proper htaccess redirects for non www sites as recommended by Google for optimal SEO. For mobile pages we follow their guidelines for redirecting websites.

For hosting on third party websites we don't do any redirects from non www to www, You would have to do that on your own.

Most of the CSS and JS is already optimized. I can look into more optimizations but based on EverWeb's current levels they will not provide much benefit.

This is not necessary, there is an option in EverWeb's preferences to do this already for you automatically when publishing.

This might depend on certain elements you will use on your page. If you provide an example I can tell you why it is happening.

Thank you very much for all the suggestions! I hope my responses were helpful and I am going through your suggestions to see what changes can be made in EverWeb.

It looks like fast loading, optimized websites are important to you. I just wrote a blog post about some of the ways EverWeb makes your website as fast as possible. Check out How EverWeb Makes Your Website Fast for more details.

Hallo Paul,

Well I used to use the Threbuchet MS or Verdana font but something was not right - they looked different - maybe there was a conflict - but in the mobile version they were small and strange... Now i use the font UBUNTU and the code generated for this google fonts in my Head Code section ( <link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Ubuntu+Condensed|Ubuntu+Mono:400,700|Ubuntu:400,400i,500&amp;subset=cyrillic,cyrillic-ext" rel="stylesheet"> ) - google says it is a web font so i hope it is... we shell see we shell see. Maybe a code like this could be generated for the used google fonts and added to the code?

Templates -They are 3 different types of error:
"The server reported an error while trying to download the template file. Please try again later. The requested URL could not be found. "
"The server reported an error while trying to download the template file. Please try again later. Unknown error:400"
and then there are templates ( the same one) twice - some of them downloaded some not ?!??!?

Templates: Bergman, Cinema, Ferrara, garbo, Photography, photomag, portofolio, resistenza
double and error: Engagement, Fashion News, Modern Business,

HELLO WORLD! it is kind of funny... once i changed that txt to my adres - same error - why is it needed?

About the google maps - I think there are 4 maps on my website 3 on Desktop and one on a mobile webpage but PageSpeed Insights says that there are 10 Leverage browser caching google maps sites (?) you can look at my results from PageSpeed Insights - it is different if there is no https Infront!

I do have all needed redirects in my htaccess file - but anyways IF someone should somehow come to the wrong sitename there could be a problem.

I always optimize this one file - and then it is ok.

About the images - it looks i do something wrong - where in the settings can i make the optimization? I usually drag a image insite and then click on "yes optimize the image for web" but i always need to make the image optimisation with ImageOptim. - nevemind I found it and will try it out
I tryed it out but still have 3 images witch have to be optimized - why?
they are in the:

https://www.ajda-zagreb.hr/masterfiles/home/images/google.png
https://www.ajda-zagreb.hr/masterfiles/home/images/facebook-1.png
https://www.ajda-zagreb.hr/masterfiles/home/images/twitter-1.png

those files have to be optimized from me.

I have 3 diferent mobile sites for 3 different sites all are the same dimensions but every is different showing - i dont know why.

Oh, yes, Optimize CSS Delivery - if there can be something done that would be great

Remove render-blocking JavaScript:
ew_js/mobileRedirect.js - why?
ew_js/imageCode.js
ew_js/googlemaps.js - hello world

I will look at your article and maybe there is something more I can do to the website - i do like to be better then the rest... faster web and so - lots of time goes into that...

Oh, yes, and please do not forget about the blog feature - it is buggy :(
Oh, something else!! Can you make a code so the e-mail adresses are secure ? and that no bad boots get them so that we dont get spam? you know this name(at)domain(dot)com :D that would be also huge!

Hope to read you soon
regards,
Ana

Hallo, well about the fonts - i used Verdana, Trebuchet MS and in one website comic sans MS - they were not shown correctly online but in my system they are Webfonts... I changed now the fonts to google fonts and let the https://fonts.google.com/ generate me a code that I added to the html section of the project - Ubuntu is the font I use now. Do we have to add some code so the fonts look ok or should we check online if the fonts are really web friendly or not?
regards,
Ana
