Embedded MP4 Video Will Not Play (Safari)

After the latest update, I cannot get Safari to play MP4 video using the Everweb Video widget. In the previous version of Everweb, I created a website and used the video widget to embed a short splash video which plays perfectly fine in Safari, Chrome, Opera and other browsers (website: www.ebonyworldomnimedia.com), both the older version of Safari and the updated version for MacOS High Sierra. In Everweb, the video is set to auto-play & loop. With the newest update of Everweb, I've created a similar website and am using the same program to create a similar splash video. it is also set to auto-play & loop. However, the video will not play in Safari or Chrome no matter what I attempt. I have re-encoded the splash video multiple ways at different resolutions, aspect ratios, and even codecs (MP4 using H.264, lbx264, etc.) Page loads fine and video plays fine in Chrome. With Apple updating Safari to not play videos set to auto-play, I've adjusted all settings in Safari preferences to allow for auto-play both in Safari Preferences > Websites and also in Safari > Settings for this Website. Has anyone else encountered this issue, and if so how did you fix it? Is this an update issue with Everweb or Safari? Do you have preferred encoding for MP4 videos which allow them to play in both of the new updates? Last edit 8 years ago |

One of the main causes of media files not loading is the file name. Media files form part of a URL so the file name should have no spaces or special characters. Looking at your page source code the file name is - ewExternalFiles/EbonyWorld%20Omnimedia%20Bumper%20Norm.mp4 If the one that is failing has the same type of badly formed file name, make all lower case, replace spaces with hyphens and make sure there are no special characters such as an apostrophe. If this is not the problem, publish a test page with the video and post the URL. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Actually, that page loads perfectly fine in Safari, Chrome, and Opera as I explicitly said in my original post. No issues with the EbonyWorld Omnimedia site. The EBonyWorld Omnimedia site was published using the previous version Everweb and MacOs Sierra. The issue is with the new site just created in the current version of Everweb and MacOS High Sierra. MP4 media file names have no spacing and are all lowercase. |

As I mentioned before, you need to publish a test page and post the URL here.

I've just heard from another user that they are having problems with the video (media element) widget. I'm using EverWeb V2.5.0 (build 1842) and all the different video widgets are working fine. I've tested HTML5 video, MediaElent and VideoJS and they all work as they should. Presumably it's a problem with V2.5.1. ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! I believe it is a V2.5.1 problem as well, which si the version I am using. I created a test site with only a blank page, added the video widget only and attached the EbonyWorldOmnimedia video. I attempted to preview the video in Safari: would not load Opera: would not load Chrome: loads and plays I just opened a support ticket. |

Hi John, Can you please post the exact URL to the page with a video that does not work properly? There were not any changes related to the video widget in EverWeb 2.5.1 that I can remember. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Hi Sean, Sorry to hear about these problems. In order to fix these issues I really need to see a URL with the video issue so I can look into this. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

When I click the download link in THIS topic, I get V2.5.0 and HTML5 video works as it should.

This version is actually 2.5.1 beta 1 (but it says 2.5 still within the software) but I removed it and version 2.5.1 official can be downloaded from the downloads page. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |
