My wishlist entry would be for EverWeb to provide support for a more elegant way of downloading MP3s and other assets. Setting up a URL to an MP3 asset using Hyperlinks with Link To: A File and Behavior: Default opens up the MP3 in a player when clicked. This is not the desired result. The other options in Behavior are less desirable. Offering a 4th option, Download, in the dropdown would be preferable. In its current state, the EverWeb workaround is to have two assets for one MP3, One for the player and a second ZIP copy for download. Creating an additional ZIPped MP3 asset increases the number of files to track. With storage space and bandwidth as they are, ZIP files are so last century. |

Hi, Christopher! Unfortunately, it's not possible to create a link that would only download mp3 file. As you noticed, link to mp3 opens a new page with the playback option but doesn't give the option to download the file. The file should be archived in order to be downloaded. I would recommend placing an Audio widget so that your visitors could listen to the song online and placing a link to the .zip file to download the track. You can also check EverWeb Codebox site, there are plenty of custom widgets out there and maybe you will find something for your case. | Huh? What? Is this the Feature Request forum? Right, it's not possible to create a download link. I get that. There is a glugy work around. I get that, too. This is a feature request. Why has it been triaged and dismissed so rapidly? | |
