First Time Publish, a few things aren't right.

First time publish tonight and I have a couple of things I can't fathom. Played about a little bit but been unable to discover what's wrong.

First up, I don't like the black background while the carousel type movie on this page starts to load, I get the same thing when I leave the page too. I tried a poster frame, it didn't help. I think the widget I used might be built in, it's simply called video and there are no credits at the bottom of the widget settings.

Secondly, On this page the images at 30% opacity don't re-appear when my mouse leaves them, they do for the images at 100% opacity. At first, I thought it may have been that the ones at 100% worked as intended because they also acted as a link, but there are no links (yet) on the ones at 100% on this page and they still work.

OK, I also note that my video doesn't play in Firefox or Chrome. I checked via ftp and my alternate versions have definitely been uploaded by Everweb. My only thought here as that my conversions to WebM and ogv have watermarks since I wanted to see it work before I paid for the conversion software I used, but would be surprised if that's it.

I'm also being told that text is flowing over my footer on (some) android devices.

I've set text as an image to avoid it flowing over fixed objects on my desktop version but didn't want to do this on my mobile site to keep download times down. I'd assumed that the footer would behave dynamically unlike my fixed objects, but obviously, something else is happening that I don't understand.

Thought I'd added an image but obviously not.

Hi Steve,

Sorry for the issues you are having. I am doing more research into some of your issues.

For the ones I can asnwer now, it is possible Firefox and Chrome have disabled auto playback of videos in the preferences.

For the text overlapping the footer, make sure you use web safe fonts or google fonts. If a font isn't available on the android device it will be substituted for another one and may be longer than you designed.

For the image rollover issue, can you try replacing the spaces in your images with a - and remove any characters that are not alphanumeric?

Seems your server is returning a 400 HTTP code when trying to re-apply the original image.

OK, got all that thanks. I've changed the font to Arial and everything seems OK, although Times New Roman was listed as a web-safe font in my font book, which is why I chose it, to begin with, I appreciate it's Apple's font book and not yours. I haven't done it yet but I suspect you are right about the nomenclature in regard to the images. In respect of the movie, I'll have to have another think.

I'm also having a font issue. I published my last website last week which published fine and as it showed in the preview. I have now attempted to publish a second website using the same font - it looks fine in preview but when I publish it, it changes the size, colour and type of font. I have tried using different fonts to check the specific font I am using isn't the problem (as it shouldn't be as I have successfully published my first site fine). The website is www.ricanto.com. I have put back up the 'website under construction' page and it is also doing the same thing with the font. What can I do to fix this? Thanks
