Use mobile sites with one folder depth

User: Patrick K. 8 years ago
Hello together. I'm coming from iweb and I want to recreate my hole site with everweb.
I'm also hosting some subdomians, so my hompage is not in the rootdirectory, but in a subfolder.

There is an index.htlm forwarding to ./pcpanik/index.html

./
index.html
/pcpanik/index.html

The desktop site works fine, but the mobile sit won't be found cause the path is not right. The subfolder is missing in the url.

Desktop path is: www.pcpanik.de/pcpanik/index.html and then forwarded a second time to the everweb subfolder "home" to www.pcpanik.de/pcpanik/home/start.html

The mobile site is found at: www.pcpanik.de/pcpanik/home/mstart.html

But if I try to oben the site with my iPhone, i get a 404 with the wrong path: www.pcpanik.de/home/mstart.html

Is there any way to correct this?

When you publish your site in EverWeb go to the File->Edit Publishing Settings and then make sure that the subdirectory

pcpanik

Is in the subdirectory field and not the Directory Path field.

Thank you for your advice. I do not have this option, 'cause I publish my site to a folder on my Mac and then via cyberduck and sftp to my webspace.
I can see the option, if I would publish to everweb-hosting-service or via ftp (w/ tsl/ssl). The provider I use only supports sftp for a secured connection, and everweb does not, does it? :(

Hi Patrick,

Correct, EverWeb supports FTP over SSL but not FTP over SSH at this time.

If you use the Subdirectory field from the FTP setting and then switch back to the Publish to Folder option it may work, otherwise you will have to work with your web hosting provider to set up proper redirects.

Your last option is of course to switch to the EverWeb + Hosting account for seamless publishing and integration. Just pointing out the final option for you.

Hi Paul and thank you. If I'm using FTP it works, if publishing after this into a folder and putting that on my webspace, the right path is gone.
So, here is my feature request: FTP support over SSH, please! (iWeb is able to use SSH, so it should be able to implement it!) Thank you a lot!

or

Add that subfolder option to publishing into a folder. :)

Hi Patrick,

Just to let you know, FTP over SSH is included in EverWeb 2.6, which is currently in beta testing but we hope to have released very soon.
