Codebox Coverflow Carousel Widget bizarre problem.

All, I wondered if anybody has come across this bizarre "problem" I am having with the Codebox Coverflow Carousel widget. As follows: When I preview it in Firefox and Safari through everweb build page it works fine; in fact great. But when viewed through Chrome browser preview; when mac magic mouse or my Macbook Air trackpad swipes to scroll over photos in the widget, either on purpose or by mistake then the widget disappears off the page!!, like gone! (occasionally one click and it disappears) In fact the same thing happens when viewing the same widget on Roddy's Codebox Coverflow Carousel widget page on his website when viewing it in Chrome. It disappears too with a mouse/trackpad swipe, and just a black pane remains. (wasn't sure whether to use pane or pain in last sentence!!!) I have obviously also tried a conventional mouse and mouse wheel on my Macbook Air to scroll on widget page in everweb preview in Chrome without issues, it works fine. I have also used magic mouse swipe using my imac desktop and same result, pictures in widget disappear in Chrome on my everweb page and Roddy's too. All my other brilliant Codebox widgets work fine by the way, and I have no unusual Chrome settings selected. If anybody has come across a similar problem and found a work around, or just an explanation I would very much appreciate hearing from them. As there does not appear to be any questions or reports about this behaviour on the other blogs, I am beginning to doubt my sanity. But trust me it is happening :) It would be such a great pity if I can't use the widget because of this cos it is the exact cool effect I am looking for. Thanks all. Nev |

I can't reproduce this behaviour on an iMac using a magic mouse or a MacBook Pro using the trackpad using Chrome Version 41.0.2272.118 (64-bit) Like a lot of things Apple, the magic mouse/trackpad can sometimes be too clever for its own good and is quite often not the best tool for the job. I use a magic mouse simply because Apple's wired mouse has a very problematic scroll ball. It may be OK for "normal" use but causes constant problems over time. Try using a magic mouse when working with Apple's own Xcode to quickly scroll through code and then drop the cursor onto an edit point without first removing your finger tip from the surface and you will find out how frustrating it is! ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! | Out of curiosity, could this be a 'Gesture' that is exclusive to Chrome browser? | |

Roddy Thank you for your exemplary, commendably swift “after sales”. I waited a little to reply to see if I could replicate problem using friend’s Macbooks. One 12” Retina, one Air and a Macbook Pro. All were using Yosemite and Chrome Version 48.0.2564.116. They showed exactly the same disappearing problem when using Macbook trackpad and two fingered swipes. The problem can easily be replicated on the said widget page on your website, hover cursor above widget; and perform two fingered swipe or just tap trackpad using two fingers, remember just in Chrome. As mentioned above same thing happens in everweb Chrome preview. It is sure a strange phenomenon. However if nobody else has experienced this same “problem” then I suppose we must conclude ourselves all to be phenomenal here in Spain!!!! ☺ Seriously though it has concerned me enough to pen the bug report to help me, you and others. Unfortunately as things stand I don’t feel able to include widget on my website, I do find it very strange though that we seem to be the only ones to have noticed this. But four people with four different Macbooks over here can’t all be hallucinating. Thanks for the support Roddy. Also thanks for comment Jim, but I am not familiar with any Chrome specific gestures on Macbook. Nev |

| I just duplicated this on Roddy's site. Latest chrome and mac os. I put the cursor over the images and swiped left and the images flipped through and disappeared, leaving a black box. | |

I'm not really sure why anybody would swipe through the slides anyway - unless they were using a touch device. The jQuery plugin used for this slider is designed to work on computers by clicking the the next/previous images or using scroll wheel. Note that "scroll wheel" is not the same as swiping on a trackpad or magic mouse. To replicate scroll wheel on a magic mouse requires vertical drag - not horizontal swipe. The plugin is designed to work using swipe on touch devices. In any case, I wonde what percentage of visitors to the avergae website have twitchy fingers and are using Google Chrome on a Mac with a trackpad or magic mouse? ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! Roddy, Thanks for your reply. Well in answer to your last sentence in your post, I can tell you as I work in the fashion industry that everyone uses Macs, magic mice and laptop trackpads, and a simple Google search will inform you that Chrome has around 50% of the world browser usage. That stated, you do say on the widget page “The slides are navigated by clicking, mouse wheel scroll or swipe on mobile devices.” However I don’t think anybody in their wildest dreams would take that as meaning you cannot touch the widget with a two fingered gesture whilst using a laptop trackpad when using the worlds most popular browser. Anyway bottom line is unfortunately I can’t use it. I had hoped when starting this thread that a solution or constructive comments might be forthcoming. Jim thank you for your interest and comments in the thread, and verification of problem. Nev. |

The only constructive thing I can think of is to encourage visitors to click or tap their way through the slides. I suppose the answer would be to add navigation arrows to make this clear.
