Responsive Websites.

It seems that quite a few EverWeb users don't understand the difference between a responsive website and a fluid design.

Some users who have tried the Responsive widgets and the Flex Responsive widgets were disappointed that their websites didn't reach masssive dimensions when viewed on a large screen!

A fluid design has 100% width and the contents expand and contract in an unorganised and uncontrolled fashion as the browser width is changed.

A responsive design presents the page in a viewable form on different devices and arranges the size and position of the objects to suit different browser/device screen widths.

A normal website design for viewing on computers would have a content width of around 980px to 1100px and would NOT spread out to 2560px wide on an iMac 27 Retina. If this were the case, full width images, for example, would need to be provided at 5120px wide which would result in the page downloading as slow as treacle.

To prevent this happening, responsive items have a maximum width set and are auto centered. All the responsive widgets have a max width setting and Flex widgets have this setting for the page content width and the individual items.

Anybody who wants their website to spread out all over large screens and look ridiculous with low quality image reproduction can set this max width to something like 2600px and be happy!
