Viewing Extra navigation Menu

Extra navigation Menu

User: itay 10 years ago
I hope this option are available and I only don’t know how to do it,
Otherwise, please add it.

If for example I have a website with "catalog" page.
Inside the catalog pages, I would like to add a new navigation Menu to let the users
Browse the catalog pages only, (without the other website pages).
Is it possible?

It would be great to have the option to use the navigation Menu widget and simply select the pages I want to show
In this extra menu I just added. For now it always contain the pages of the menu of the site which I already use it for the site.
I know there is an option to just write text with links but it is not the solution I search for.

Great gadgets ..
I will try to play with it, I couldn't understand i can pick "one of my pages" or I have to write the path of the page, if it's to pick a page it's great

The EverWeb widget API has a new(ish) control for choosing a link to a page of the same site, To link to a file or an external page it's necessary to enter a relative or absolute URL into the box provided.

Find out more about file paths.

By the way,
option to add small pictures to the menu will be great,
for example a language menu with the countries flags..
or a products menu with picture of one of the products.

Roddy many thanks for the menus widgets, they are great solutions but unfortunately I can not use them from a design reasons (because the background can not be transparent).
For my website design it will look funny ...
By the way, Same for the search widget: The design is not enough editable by the user.

From my point of view, this widgets should offer functional solution rather than design.

It's really annoying to get the solution and not be able to use it because of very small issue.

I can not understand the reason for this, but I hope it will be update so that users can maximize the enjoyment of these widgets.

Without having seen you site; If the background were transparent, would the menu be able to be read clearly? Could you set the background to the same color as the page, to appear transparent?
User: itay 10 years ago
Thanks for trying to help Jim,
The background of the page is 80% transparent and in this menu widget you can't change the transparency..

The best thing will be to let the user set the transparency in this widget.

To add transparency to the background requires four extra controls - three for the RGB color numbers and one for the opacity slider. Due to the limitation in the height of the Widget Settings inspector panel, this means that I need to cut out some other functions.

The icon navigation widgets - example - have both icons and transparency but this is at the expense of the number of list items which is reduced to eight.

With most of the more complex widgets, I have to trade off one function versus another. It would help if the developers could add more height to the widget settings panel. They have already done this once and I understand there is a limit to this. I have no idea what it is or if it has been reached. The actual Widgets panel extends way beyond the Widget Settings panel.

As you can imagine, it impossible to predict which functions are required by individual users. I have modified many widgets for individual users. This is very time consuming and, as I do it for free, there has to be a limit!

I see no reason to waste time on design issues in widgets development, as I mentioned before, I think that these widgets should give a functional solution rather than themes, each theme design should be user's hand to decide to adjust for his needs.

It is absurd to know that this is the problem.
There is a problem to add to some of the widget settings menu an extra tab control? (I'm not asking this as a rhetorical question, it is likely that there are things I do not know, I just really asking, if there is problem with that?) Is that what that will reduce a quality of a widget?

From my point of view, those widgets should offer the option to add a functional solutions that enhance the capabilities of the software, I am convinced that many users take a decision whether or not to use the software when they take in account the software features where this includes these widgets from 3rd party. Because of this, it's very important that the software developers will be much more "with" those 3rd party widgets makers, I mean help them to maximize their capabilities of they widgets, let them offer a clean code as possible for perfect system integration (mainly from SEO reasons) and make the widgets window be as comfortable as possible for the user. After all, most of the time the final user website will contain those widgets And the main software are "sign on" this final website results, so this relation between the software developers and the widgets Makers should be perfect. (I'm talking about relation between the systems, of course not personal relation).

Usually the software developers focus more in the system than in small widgets, they can't (and shouldn't) spend the time on this small things. so this 3rd party's are short the time of the software to be more advance for the users and that's the main interest of the developers in those 3rd party widgets makers.

I think it is super important to find a solution for this interface space problem in this case (if this is the real problem) if it will make widgets better

But let me be clear, it's only my personal opinion in this issue, I'm sure there is many things I don't aware of in the developers mind. I only can say my opinion as a user.

My problem with the menus is one website in 6 languages and with two menus in each website, all should be in the same design... So the menu widget is important thing here.

I agree. The nav-widget is very important.
It would be nice to have more opportunities with the default navigation widget of EW.
Second nav-menu, vertical, second level, mobile, embedding icons, etc.
That would be great for every designer to have more options.
