I have finally found a new domain name and I am ready to buy Everweb. My stupid questions are concerning the "Addons" screen I would rather ask a stupid question than make a stupid mistake. These are my questions. 1. "Company ID Number" What is this? 2. What should i put in the space for "Registrant Name"? My name or website name? 3. What does "WHOIS Opt out" mean. Should i opt in or opt out? Thank you |

When you purchase a domain other than a .com, org and .net the registrars of these domains require additional information. For example, if you are buying a .ca or .co.uk domain (which are called country top level domains), each country has special requirements for them. Essentially, some countries require that you are actually a citizen, or your business is registered in that country to register a domain there. All countries have different requirements. Without knowing which domain you are purchasing, it is hard to answer your question precisely. But I can try; Quote: 1. "Company ID Number" What is this? This depends on the domain you are registering. It could be your company's incopration number, tax number etc... You can post your domain here OR you can google "Company ID number for .TLD domain" where you replace .TLD with the domain extension. For example if you are registering apple.CA you would search for "Company ID number for .CA domain". That is exactly what I will do once you post the domain you are registering here. Quote: 2. What should i put in the space for "Registrant Name"? My name or website name? This would be your name. Quote: 3. What does "WHOIS Opt out" mean. Should i opt in or opt out? Yes you should opt out. WHOIS is a public database containing the contact details of the domain registrant (ie you). Some registrar's offer this service for free, others do not. In this case it is probably free. If it is not free you will be notified before checkout. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

Thanks for the reply. Questions 2 and 3 are the answers i thought they would be. Question 1 still has me a little confused. I am looking for a .uk or .co.uk domain I am not a business or intend on being one. I am after a website to showcase my design portfolio. Hopefully it will help me in getting a job. Regards |
