EW Not Publishing Exactly as Seen in App

User: Damian N. 10 years ago
What is the deal with EW moving objects out of place when published? It makes it nearly impossible to get sites looking the way they should if you have no idea how EW is going to jack it up...

Locking objects does not solve the problem.

I'm not going to refer you to links or attach examples. I'm sure this problem is well known...

Please fix it.

Hi Damian,

Sorry for the problems you are experiencing.

However, this issue is not well known, if it were, we would definitely fix it.

Have you tried the trouble shooting techniques here regarding font issues.

If that doesn't help please try publishing your entire site from under the File menu.

If you still have issues, please show an example URL with this problem.

Damian, how many different browsers are you looking at? Each browser and each device will display differently. If you have a number of browsers installed, you can look at the site with them through the Preview function. I can tell you that right now I have a site that looks great everywhere that I look at it, except ipad first generation on Safari. After struggling at first with different browsers and how they decide to display, I decided which browsers I would design for and use those for testing. When I get a chance to see one of my sites on any other computer/device/browser, I do look and make mental notes.
If this is not what you are dealing with, sorry and hope you get it sorted soon

The site is www.baselineyourlife.com. The issue is with the title of each of the sections on each page.

The first problem is I'm using a non-web safe font. That should be easily overcome by setting them as images. However...

The second problem is once they are set as images, EverWeb positions them far to the left. I tried fixing this by locking them. However...

The third problem arose. EverWeb would arbitrarily move them up or down a significant amount, no matter whether they were set as images or not, even when locked. As of right now, since my last publish, they are in the right places vertically. But before that, I tried having them span the page. However...

That simply created the forth problem. Now, I am not able to change their widths because they are stuck to spanning the page.

Most important to note is the fact everything appears fine in EverWeb, but once published...things get boinked.

So, right now, the titles are where they are supposed to be (except for the first two under "The Baseline"), but they are not images, which becomes a problem for various browsers. ( i set the first two as images so you can see the difference.) I need to be able to set them all as images and them stay in place.

Any suggestions?

Problem still exists...no answers?

I don't recommend you set them as images. Rather I would suggest that you use Google Font instead.

However, if you cannot use a Google Font and want to use them as images it appears you may have found a bug. I am not able to reproduce this issue. Can you send me your project file?

I'll need you to send me your website project file then so I can take a look.

In the Projects window in EverWeb, click the arrow on the right next to your website and select the 'Show On Disk' option.

**DO NOT move this file from this location on your computer**

Please compress the project file before sending it to me by right clicking on it and selecting Compress. You can upload it at http://ge.tt or http://www.dropbox.com and send the link to me.

Make sure to describe the problem you are experiencing when you send your email.
