Viewing slideshow with different aspect images?
slideshow with different aspect images?

Hello, I've been trying to made a slideshow in which the images come up with different aspects--horizontal, vertical, and square. I've looked through all the forums and can't seen to find a way to do this. I've just seen that users think this is "unprofessional" looking. I don't see the problem since they come up one by one and I would not select the view thumbnail feature. Is there a widget or a way to do this? I'd also like to have a border (just a line) around each one. Thank you! |

Do you mean with the Image Slider or the Image Gallery widget? For the Image Gallery there is an option labelled Orientation which may do what you want... ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |

| Thank you Paul. I was trying with the image slider... trying an image gallery now but can't get it to autoplay. I'll keep trying. I'm new to this program. Wondering if the Lightbox Gallery is more what I need. | |

| Keep in mind that it may not preview. You may need to publish to see it in action. | |

A lightbox gallery is more forgiving for images of different aspect ratio. The problem is that they usually limit the image width which means that tall, skinny images are going to disappear out of the viewport. I had one user complain that he could get images of his paintings to display properly in a lightbox or a slider. One of them was 400px wide by 2400px high! ------------------------------- Roddy Website: http://everwebwidgets.com Contact: http://everwebwidgets.com/ewWidgets-home/contact.html NOTE: I am an EverWeb user and NOT affiliated with EverWeb! I believe that using the Image Gallery, you need to click on an image and after it opens the show starts. I put in different aspect images and it seemed to work just fine. My complaint with different sized images in a slideshow type setting is that I use a 13 inch macbook pro. The screen size is small and frequently when those start, either some images get cut off, or my screen moves to accommodate the various sizes. Both are annoying |

I still can't find a way to get the slideshow to start automatically AND allow different aspect images. Lightbox seems great, but I tried it on my page and still have to click to start the slideshow. Am I doing something wrong? I'd also love a shadow behind the image or a line around it and haven't been able to change the color of the page when the image goes to the enlarged version to match the rest of my site. Thanks in advance to anyone who might have some advice! |

I just came across this in a discussion about slideshows and aspect ratios. It makes sense to me but not sure if this is the issue here. The image containers are layered on top of each other. The "next" container gets pushed to the top of the stack and slowly fades in to full opacity, blocking the "previous" container. If the stack of image containers are not exactly the same dimension, the fade in/fade out effect will fail as the underlying container will peek out of the sides. |

| Thank you, Jim. That does make sense. I have seen other websites that can do this though (not created in Everweb). I was hoping someone would tell me how... I may just give up and use the image slider with only horizontal images. | |
