How do I properly publish a google verification file to our site?

I've created the sitemap using Rage's SiteMap Automator, but I haven't been able to verify our site with Google. I've entered the verification string sent by Google in the header code and published the update. But it upon checking the verification per Google's link, I get back "The requested URL /google14e2e504fe1cb7ce.html was not found on this server." So, I assume that I am not properly publishing the Google code. Being a neophyte, I assume I am omitting something simple or placing the code in the wrong place. Can anyone provide detailed instructions to properly upload the google verification file to our site? Thanks! |

You can use Sitemap Automator to publish the verification file to your server. There is an option to do this under the File menu. However, if you use the meta tag verification process it is easier. Simply copy and paste the meta tag provided by Google into the Site wide header field under File->Edit Publishing Settings. ------------------------------- Paul EverWeb Developer |
