I had looked forward to the new release because of the multiple select feature for the asset list, excited to be able to re-order my list in a way that is meaningful to me without the incredible tedium of moving things one at a time from somewhere maybe far, far down the list, to, say, near the top. Apparently the new feature does not include this capability. No matter how many assets I select, I can still only move one of them at a time. Am I missing something? Alternatively, it would save me the same sort of time consuming tedium if I were able to drag a new asset to a specific location in the list instead of having it always end up at the bottom. Maybe this is all very straightforward, but too complicated for me! |

/quote] Does yours not put them in alphabetical order shortly after adding to Asset list? Have you tried- with Asset list open, click the 2 arrows at top right of list, click Custom Sort Order? I have not and do not know how it works, but it is there |

| Nope, but I have discovered that if I add several without renaming them or manually ordering them, they do default to the bottom of the list, but the next time I open Everweb, they are at the top of the list, but not in alphabetical order, just in the same order I dragged them in. It would be disastrous if Everweb put them in alpha order. My site is devoted to dragonflies and damselflies with photos and other data to help people with their identification. The image files (assets) are named using codes for taxonomy. A given species might have many images, and they would each have the same alpha code but a different numeric suffix; so it would be fine for that set of images to be automatically alphabetized, but that doesn't work within the larger scheme of genera. The bigger problem is that when I add a new image for a species, I have to drag it to wherever the other related images are - a big pain. What I'd really like is folders. | |

Users who insert images by dragging them onto a page - rather than use a widget - probably don't realise that assets have been sorted alphanumerically since about V1.4. If you use something like the Image Figcaption widget, when you click the "Choose" button, the list which appears in the popup has the images sorted. This widget allows you to insert them so that you can add a descriptive caption and alt text. This means that images are easily found by the search engines and visitors using a site search. Anybody who has a huge number of images should consider dividing their site into sub folders rather than directories. Each sub site is created in its own project file so only the assets for that section are present in any projects assets list. Navigation becomes a little more complex and the simplest way to do it is to have a main navigation in the header for navigating between sections and a sub navigation - either horizontal or vertical - for navigating each sub section.
