Photo import problems

User: Carol Ann L. 10 years ago
Before I downloaded the latest upgrade, I had a problem with importing photos to my site. I used to be able to do it two ways, 1. through the media window and 2, through Insert/choose. When I use the #2, it brings up my window for Photos but all I see is Photo Booth, not my Photo Library.

Now that I have downloaded the latest upgrade (I have a Macbook Pro using Yosemite), I am experiencing the same problem as above but another layer has been added to it. When I use the Photo Gallery widget and I'm trying to drag a photo from the Media window into the Photo Gallery, the photo will not load and my EverWeb program crashes.

Can anyone offer some help with this problem?

For the first issue, if you use another program such as text Edit menu->Attach Files, can you access your Photos from that dialog? If not, it could indicate a misconfiguration with your system.

Regarding the crashing, have you sent us the crash report? If not, I cannot know what the problem is.

I am not using anything else but EverWeb.

Two reports have been sent through EverWeb.

I'm just trying to see if the issue with accessing your Photos also happens when you use other software so we can see if it is an EverWeb problem or a system wide problem.

Are you sure they didn't get sent to Apple? If EverWeb actually quits with a crash dialog those reports get sent to Apple, not to us. You need to copy and paste the reports into an email to us.

Okay, the only place I import photos is from my "Photos" app on my MacBook using Yosemite. These photos are on a LaCie portable drive.

Oops, I didn't realize the reports were going to Apple and not EverWeb. I will try to replicate what happens, copy the report and send it to you. Maybe this is something we could add to EverWeb so that it would go to you automatically. Could you work with Apple to get copied on such reports?

I think you are misunderstanding my instructions. I know that you want to import from Photos to EverWeb. What I want to know is if you are able to import images from Photos to another application such as TextEdit. If you have the same problem with your images not showing up in TextEdit like you do with EverWeb, it would indicate a problem with the operating and not EverWeb. That way we can narrow down the issue and find a solution.

So please do the following;
1. Open TextEdit
2. Go to Edit menu->Attach Files...
3. From the left side of the window that appears look for 'Photos'
4. Click that and tell me if you are able to access the Photos you want

If you can access the photos then we need to figure out why they are not showing in EverWeb. If you cannot access the Photos from there then there is some other reason you cannot access the Photos.

If there is no 'Photos' section on the left side in step 3 then we need to find out why. If this is the case, I highly suggest making a genius appointment at an Apple Store if you are able to and see if they can figure out why.

Unfortunately this cannot be done as it is out of our control.

I am able to go into TextEdit and import photos as a menu comes up that gives me the option of importing from "Photos" or "Photo Booth." All of my photos appeared when I clicked on "Photos."

Please note I have edited my notes to you to change the platform from Mountain Lion to Yosemite. Mea culpa for the misinformation in earlier notes.

This problem began occurring with an earlier upgrade to EverWeb. Prior to that, I had no problems with going into "Insert," "Choose," where a menu would open giving me the option of picking a directory to go into the bring in a file. I would choose "Photos" and I was able to also import from here. Now, when I click on "Photos" on the left of my window it says "Photos" right under "Open" but in the window below that it only shows "Photo Booth." I would like to send you a screen image but can't see how.
