Error messages....help me!

User: Debbie C. 10 years ago
Each time i try to publish to an FTP server i keep getting the same Error message
'Could not open data connection to port 54436. Connection timed out.'
However, each time i get a different port number?
56765, then 56843....
How do i get around this?

Losing the plot here, purchased and built site in Everweb as thought it would be straight forward, now its taking weeks to get published as so many issues.
Can anyone help me? Ive asked Everweb for help but waiting for response is painful as just need to sort the job.

HI Debbie,

The error message provides the solution to the issue. Your web hosting provider does not have all the opened FTP Passive ports.

To fix it go to the Preferences and select Publishing. Then turn off the Passive publishing option.

Hope this helps, please let me know if you still have issues.

Hi Paul, thanks for responding, but the Passive publishing option is already off...

Can you email your web hosting provider and ask them

"Can you please make sure ports up to 60000 are opened for FTP publishing"

Let me know what they say.

Do you mean uploaded, not downloaded?

EverWeb is publishing your site, it's just that your web hosting provider is blocking certain ports that are required to be opened to publish.

Will this problem not happen if i use Everweb's hosting service?

Your website will publish properly if you use our web hosting.

But you shouldn't see this error if you have deselected Use Passive Connections in the preferences. I will look over your ticket in support.
