Viewing some images displaying at the wrong size

some images displaying at the wrong size

Hello: I am using the Caption Banner Widget. I have 10 images of various sizes, some long and skinny, some square, some not very tall but wide, you get the idea. I viewed each image in Preview and adjusted the size so that no matter what the shape the longest or widest part of the image was 500 pixels. The images were stored on a folder on my desktop. I dragged the images to the widget asset list, and added captions...there was no place to add either additional text or a banner phrase.
I launched the slideshow in preview mode. While many of my images were within the expected size about 4 of them came in quite large. What might I have done wrong? and how can I fix it. I did not use a photo gallery, I didn't see the need for it, but I may have a misunderstanding.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks
Mary

When you say that 4 of them came in quite large; does that mean they are zoomed in?
If they are not zoomed in, could it be that they fill the space while others have a background of unused space that is the same color as the page?

Hmmm...I don't know. I just ran the slide show through the preview, and I added a background ...I thought that might show me if there was something larger than just the image...nothing showed. I went through each image in preview and checked the sizes again...no side is larger than 500 pixels.

Maybe I will take eachoriginal image and run it through another cropping program and see if that solves it.

In general, slideshows display the images in a container which has a fixed width and height so the images should be cropped to the same size - or at least, the same aspect ratio. Its kind of the same as if you had a whole bunch of photos of different sizes and you had to fit them into frames which were all the same size.

If you have images of varying size/aspect ratio, you really need to use a lightbox style slideshow. An alternative would be to use a slider with adaptive height.
